Just playing in sit n' go tournaments so far -- 5/1 tourneys while I learn the ropes of PL and NL tourneys. Played three tournaments so far. Started with $50, used a promotion code from RossMAN's site to get an extra $10, and have won one tournament, and placed 2nd in the other two so far. This is fun. :D

Net profit for today: $37.

Who else here plays online? I thought that it was too risky but while I'm waiting for a support ticket to get filled on my Merchant account thought it'd be fun to pass the time.

I really want to... But I'm too scared of losing. Maybe once I get my paycheck I'll give it a shot.

Just fixed a lady's computer with a ton of spyware from that site. Beware of browser hijackers.

I just got sick of playing for fake money to pass the time, and watching some of the worst suckouts and river rats. Money prevents that, to some extent at least. ;)

I mainly wanted to play for a bit since I am playing at a friend's tourney ($10 buyin, PL, 10 players -- top 3 get paid) tonight. PL and limit can be so different from NL.

Thanks. I check frequently (spybot + ad-aware) and my latest scan hasn't pick anything up yet. :p

Edit: Finished the check, only came up with tracking cookies.

pokerstars.com is a good place, lots of games, lots of NL choices.

I went from $5 to $300 in 2 weeks.

Yeah, I just went with PartyPoker due to the bonus. There have been plenty of games so far though.

At least do the 10/1 tournies. At 5/1 you are paying a 20% entry fee.

I've never played on PartyPoker.com before, so while I get used to the format (make myself feel comfortable) I'm playing lower limits. 10/1 will come before too long though.

Tournaments, 5/1 right now. Like Pantoot said, 10/1 is better due to the percentage (10% vs 20%) requirement of the tournament fee.

Understood. I actually had a better time of it once I moved up to the higher entry tables. It is really hard to push someone off of a hand. People stay in for the strangest stuff I have ever seen, especially with the lower entry fees.

Be careful though, it can get very addicting.

What do you usually play now? 10/1? Seems that the profit in that could be decent, if you're a good player. My goal is to just stake myself with this $60 (including the bonus) and see if I can do anything with it. I've been reading and playing far too many home/loose games, and wouldn't mind seeing if I can apply some of what I've learned.

Now I just need to get the math end down better (calculating pot odds & implied odds on the spot, that sort of thing).

Usually 20/2 , sometimes 10/1 and 30/3. I like partypoker because you never have to wait around too much for a new one to get rolling. 30/3 I tend to finish 4th though, which is probably contributing to my hair loss, I need to learn to keep my hands away from my hair.

I played a couple of the big multi table ones, where 4-5 hundred sign up. The best I have managed there is 56th, so I see it much like buying a lottery ticket. But really, it is two or so hours of poker for 9+1 or 10+1.

I really just play it for fun, but (especially playing limit) I found myself getting outdrawn too often with the 10/1. 20/2 enables me enough wins to keep playing, but I am not going to claim I am making a crazy profit.

EntityAT (I'm tough to recognize). I'm really tight most of the time, part of playing online should help loosen up my game a bit. I do well at home games, but I'd like to be able to step it up a notch.

I don't play on party. Never liked their graphic, plus I always seem to leave my money there. I find pokerstars (tight tables on the lower limits) and Ultimate Bet ((looser tables, unique graphics) to be a bit more to my liking. Playing the .25/50 limit games on both, moving to the .50/1 games in a month or so. Soooo addicting.

I started playing there recently. Did the 20% bonus, deposited $500, got a $100 bonus, plus a set of 300 chips and a case. Withdrew $450 and I've been playing with the $150. I was doing ok at the .50/1 tables, tried moving to the 1/2 tables and got my ass handed to me (didn't tighten up enough). Now I'm back at the .50/1 tables. Never played tournaments before though, how long do they last?

No. 10 people in the tournament, $10 buyin, $1 fee (so you pay $11 total, and $10 of it goes to the prize pool). Prize distribution generally is 50% for 1st, 30% for second, 20% for third.
