The only problem I have with my M44 is the fact that all the cheap 7.62x54R is MilSurp FMJ, and the ranges around here don't permit FMJ :(

If you use the corrosive ammo flush the barrel with water shortly after shooting then clean as normal. I have 2 91/30's, one I left as it was and the second one I refinished the stock. If you hold it tight to your shoulder the recoil isnt too bad.

If they run another sale I may pick up another "cheapie" and get the synthetic stock and scope for it. We'll see how this one shoots first though.

Nice looking gun OP.

I really want to get a .308. Been eyeing some of the Savage Arms at the local Wal-Mart that are nice and a reasonable price. They have a decent rating from what I can find also.

But also tempted to build a .308 AR instead. Would be more fun I think and would compliment my .223/5.56 AR I have now.

Think I'll probably end up getting a carry 45 before anything else though.

Very nice, Gill. Enjoy the destruction of your right shoulder shooting! :p
They can be a real pain with that steel buttstock. (Not sure if yours has one from the pictures)

BTW, I would highly recommend loading your own rounds. It's economical and reliable.

Having been looking into reloading for a long time, and talking to the many people at work who do it, reloading is not all that economical anymore. To get good reliable equipment, you're looking at a decent capital investment and the payback period is fairly long depending on how much you shoot.

AR10 setups are pretty expensive, but if you have the money it'd be fun. I want one some day.

Nice looking rifle OP, keep wondering if I should pick one up sometime...now that I have a couple of AR's I might just have to do it:)

Yeah, that's what swayed me towards the "rifle" style in my other threads. AR stuff is just insane on price lately.

For the price, if you can find one local it's well worth the money IMHO. Even if it's just "because".

Nice! Gotta love WWII small arms. You gonna scope it, or just stick with iron sites? Those things are dead accurate even with iron sites but finding an era scope would be sweet.

If I found an era scope, I'd scope it. But since i'm epically cheap, I doubt that'll ever happen.

91/30s don't kick that bad at all compared to most milsurp bolt rifles. Even the M38s and M44 are a little harsh but manageable.

My Enfield Jungle Carbine (No. 5 Mark I) however kicks like a mule. You're hurting after a few rounds even with a pad.

They are $89 local still I think. Saves shipping and FFL fees.

Snapped this for those who have asked me about the .50. This will show you what the shells are like compared:

why are you pics tiny as hell?

Shot my Mosin 91/30 today for the first time. The recoil wasn't bad at all. I was actually quite surprised.

There shouldn't be any FFL fees.

I purchased mine direct.

That gun is exempt.
