Anecdotal IMO. If you had to go into the Thunderdome of gunfights, and on your way in you were presented with a Ruger P90, a Beretta 92, a Glock 17, a Sig 226, and an H&K USP, which one would you take? Having no prior experience with those specific, individual guns, I'd prefer to bet my life on one of the European brands known for quality, rather than an American brand known for "value."
What does it matter where the brand is from? Beretta, Sig, HK and Ruger and Glock all either make their guns 100% in america or assemble them here from parts from else where.
Stop being gun snob that doesn't know enough to be a snob.
I'll take my Smith and Wesson 1911PD or ATI Beretta 92 Centurion clone any day over a Glock.
Glocks aren't as popular as they are because they are the best gun. They are as popular as they are because they are inexpensive yet reliable.
I've had several glocks and never had any mechanical issues with them. I don't like the triggers and the grip is at an odd angle.
Ruger firearms are very dependable and tough. A Ruger revolver or P series semi auto will outlive you or I? My Security Six is older than I am and still going stong. No play in the cylinder, good lockup and dead accurate.
To add. It's funny how people keep crapping on other brands and hold Glock up to some mythical status, but fail to mention that Glock had teething problems with the .40SW based guns because they don't use a fully supported chamber. Does Glock Ka-Boom ring a bell?
I don't trust any gun out of the box. I trust a gun after taking it to the range and putting a bunch of rounds through it and it not giving me problems.
CZ turned me off to their products with the CZ-40p. That thing jammed every other shot. One of the night site inserts fell out on thr 1st shot i took with the gun.
Different guns for different people.
The only rugers that have had problems are the little micro guns they put out. But to bad mouth Ruger as making junk guns is about as foolish as saying Intel sucks because of the Pentium 4.
