Or we have a family share plan. I pay the same for my iPhone 3gs as I did for my solo verizon account before (which had no data or text). About $45 or so. Still more than SERO was or similar, but not too bad otherwise.

Some people just want a very small phone that they don't want to even know it's there unless they are using it. I was offered a blackberry for free at work and turned it down, because I really don't want to be "connected" 24-7.

I'm typically anti-Apple, but I would really like to have an iPhone. I don't agree with being forced into a $30 data plan for 2 years and not having the option to cancel it, but the phone is kinda pointless without the net, so whatever I guess. The iPhone is competitively priced and has plenty more pros than cons, so I can get behind it, unlike their other products.

I'd say the worst part about the iPhone is Steve Jobs' need to control people and how his products function. When ever people make a complaint on this forum, you guys always direct them to some halfassed-hack in order to get it done and while that may seem fine and dandy, it's also a great way to brick the phone thanks to, well Steve Jobs once again (kill switch anyone?).

I pay $40/mo for blackberry with unlimited texts, data, and 700 minutes. I had the Motorola Q prior to the BB, and the BB>Q any day.

That's another reason I don't have an iPhone though, the monthly plans are way too expensive (i.e. double what I'm paying now for the same stuff).

Yeah but I prefer having a phone with GSM as I can pop in any sim card I want when I go out of the country. I'm assuming you have verizon, correct?

For people looking at a smartphone, the iphone is pretty goddamn hard to beat.

EVERY PHONE has a shitload of cons, however for many of us, the iphone > the rest

I hope the iPhone keeps getting better and better. Of course I will never, ever buy one (too restrictive and doesn't integrate well with Microsoft Outlook, which I rely on heavily). However, it'll light a fire under Microsoft's ass and they, as always, will respond with better, cheaper products. That's what I love about Microsoft, they're hyper-competitive.

I don't go out of the country currently, so that "feature" has no use for me. Maybe in 2 renewal periods (not the next one in about a year, but the one after that in about 3 years) I might look into that more. Although 3 years in phone world is a significant amount of time.

I have an iPhone because I want a smart phone, so I only have to carry one thing in my pocket, because frankly I'm lazy and I'd never carry an mp3 player around, but it's nice to have handy. I'd love to migrate away from apple, but their app library (especially games which entertain me -- I don't have a DS) is just far too broad at this point, and nobody else is close.

Also, for the OP, I recommend Peggle, LuxTouch (Risk), Galcon (RTS), and Wolf3D.

Edit: and I still have the original iPhone, because it runs the apps and still plays games for $10 less per month than the new ones.

I have a Sansa for when I jog, why would I use an inferior MP3 player that requires me to run the risk of getting sued 8 ways to China for putting music in any other format than the one I buy it from (iTunes) when I can simply use Amazon or similar services, buy the MP3 outright and not worry about all the obnoxious hassle of switching formats and ripping it to MP3 when I want to put it on a CD for a car, etc.

Both of my cars have MP3 capable OEM decks with CD changers so I don't need to make it look trashy with an Aux cable plugged into an iPod.

That and AT&T's coverage, specifically 3G coverage is horrible compared to Verizon/Sprint and yes, their proces are rediculous but people want the iphone so bad they are willing to pay crazy plan prices and have bad reception.
