Out for delivery now, what cool things should I know about? What are some cool apps, preferably free but I would not be opposed to buying something if it is truly useful/fun

I got one recently... only thing I don't like about it is that it stops sending and receiving data when the screen is turned off (sleeping). This is a bit annoying when it comes to running an IM program on your phone... especially when you turn your phone back on and it takes 1-3 minutes to connect again. Not very instant :(.

EDIT:

As for apps, I don't have too many installed. I use IM+ for an IM client. I have Fandango for looking up movie times (I also have an account with them, so I can buy tickets too). As for games, I mostly play UNO or Bejeweled 2, but I also have Solitaire ("Sol Free") and Sudoku.

Mine sits on my desk all day long, is promptly put in a back pocket after work, and is only used over my blackberry when I need a ghetto navi system when I'm not in my truck.

The dazzle wears off relatively quickly if you aren't a trendy college kid trying to use it as a fashion accessory.

I'm not really sure how Beejive is going to do anything different than IM+ (with Push) will do... unless there's something that I'm missing, which is more than possible.

I'm "upgrading" from a KRZR and dont text but the web features seem nice.

Also, can anyone give me a straight answer on texting (people send them to me but I dont respond) My friends say they dont have a text plan but dont get charged since they have data, but ATT says its is a billable item

Push should come through even when the phone is off. Push is like a text message.

Billable. If you don't text, you save money. $5 for 200 messages.

You will get charged $0.20 for each text you receive, SMS is not counted as data.

I have a Sansa for when I jog, why would I use an inferior MP3 player that requires me to run the risk of getting sued 8 ways to China for putting music in any other format than the one I buy it from (iTunes) when I can simply use Amazon or similar services, buy the MP3 outright and not worry about all the obnoxious hassle of switching formats and ripping it to MP3 when I want to put it on a CD for a car, etc.

Both of my cars have MP3 capable OEM decks with CD changers so I don't need to make it look trashy with an Aux cable plugged into an iPod.

People who hate on the iPhone are some of the most ridiculous haters out there. They try so hard to bring it down. Its rather hilarious

I mean seriously, what are you beefs with the iPhone, and what is the better alternative that solves ALL of your issues with the iPhone?

uh ok. So you're purposely carrying around 2 devices (sansa + phone, assuming you carry around your phone when you jog), even though you don't have to? and you don't use your ipod at work?

I use my iPhone for everything, including the car. Did I mention I use the pandora app in the car so I can get streaming internet radio?

Seriously your retort is ridiculous on so many levels. it's not JUST AN MP3 player, it's also an mp3 player that takes calls, takes pictures, browses the internet, etc, etc, etc.

MP3s work just fine on iPods and iPhones. Why would you get sued for putting MP3s you legally purchased or ripped onto an iPod?

I love how I can sync my gmail and google calendar, all with built in software. I got the facebook application, yahoo messenger, stanza ebook reader, sudoku, ballmazing, and Brick 3D.

I'm looking for a good MS Office compatible application.

The iPhone is an amazing device and the only thing keeping me from getting it is the high monthly cost of the required data plan. It wouldn't even be that big a deal if I was already paying full price for a standard phone plan, but I'm still on a family plan so a jump from $10/mo to $80/mo is just too high.
