I never even knew there was a FFXI...... damn, its been awhile since I've devoted myself to a RPG console game. Last one was Xenosaga and that one left me on a "to be continued.." feeling. Sigh, it sucks getting older

I got about 2 hours in and I LOVE the new battle system...I like it this way. I do not like the camera though..I am very interested to see how it plays when I have to control 2-3-4 other players in a battle!

btw : I have played every FF to date! 5, anthology, 7,8,9,10,10-2,11, now 12.

I havent tried crystal chronicles though

I wanna get the collector's edition from eb/gamestop, but that would mean buying the PS2 again. At which point, I'll splurge on the Logitech G25 wheel and GT4 again. That's $600 gone just like that. No, not gonna happen.

I have to agree on the camera. It is horrible.

yeah can they at least make the camera controls so its not inverted, I keep looking the wrong way

the freaking voice acting and translation is awesome. they got it perfect. not just the accent, but the wording, expressions, and grammar too!

I have to agree on the camera. It is horrible.

What don't you guys like about the camera? I wish the left/right wasn't inverted or that there was an option to change that, but that is the only complaint I really have. Other than that it seems pretty typical for a 3rd person camera.

Honestly, you get used to the camera very quickly. I've been playing the game for about 60 hours so far, and the camera controls are second nature by now.

100% agree. I wont lie, I am impressed...and thats pretty hard for me to say! I haven't played a console game in a while, I am glad it is FF12 that brought me back . Time to get a wii when it releases now, haha.

The thing I dislike about the camera is the invertedness...otherwise 3 hours in, I am pretty used to it now.

How many people like/dislike the battle system? I actually prefer it , instead of the old school, everyone bobbing up and down waiting to attack...haha

So after playing for awhile, is this game great? I've got a copy on order, but no PS2 yet. I'm debating if I want to pickup a cheap PS2 and play it, or put the money from the Xbox I just sold (original), towards a 360 or a Wii.

I was liking this game, until I learned quickenings. WTF, a quickening combo can take out a boss in 1 turn...or you can just grind on the boss with regular attacks and heals for 15 minutes.

The regular bosses are fairly easy in the beginning of the game.

However, later in the game, the regular bosses, optional bosses, espers, and Mob Hunt missions can be extremely difficult.

You will not be able to take them out with a simple 11-15 chain of quickenings.

Another thing I dislike is only being able to have ONE character learn to use an esper. And once that character learns it, he/she is stuck with it for the rest of the game. Who should learn what? What if I screw up and give somebody the wrong one?

You should try Tactics as well.
