It's a pretty hard thing to do, you have to do it very slowly and carefully; I have to use the little panoramic stick on mirrors.

So she comes inside 5 minutes after leaving the house, tells me to come outside and not to be angry. She had dented the rear side panel on the car against the bumper of her truck. On the tC, since it's a coupe, this isn't a small thing. It's probably the largest piece of sheet metal on the entire car.

I am fuming, screaming at her while she is trying to tell me "it's just a dent, it will pop out". Uh, no. I popped out the interior panels, tried to see if it would pop out. It did, but only partially, and the sheet metal is creased for a good 2 feet. She would have HAD to have kept backing up even after hitting her truck because there are bumper scrapes for the entire length of the crease. I've tapped her bumper before backing out, but I go so slow, I realize it, stop immediately without damage, and back around it again.

So I'm still fuming when she comes home (after taking her truck) and she's catty at ME because she doesn't think I should be so upset about it. "It's only a car". Seems cavalier about how much this is going to cost us like money grows on a fvking tree. Doesn't understand why I haven't taken it to a shop already, when I'm trying to calm myself down so I don't take a golf club to the windows of her truck.

So, the question is, are you able to calm down, write it off as an accident, and put a happy face on less than an hour after this happens?

You should calm down... you get your car for 10 years tops... you get your fiancee for life. Sure you can be upset.. but it's not like she did it on purpose... so calm the fck down.

She's your fiance shes going to be your wife, mother of your kids and all, and your freaking out because she made a mistake which Im sure she was profusely apologized for?

I can understand you being INTERNALLY upset and dissapointed, but there is no reason to piss and moan about it out loud. Serves no purpose, and actually creates more problems ie her being upset now.

If you had taken it in stride, she would have been ever grateful and would WANT to make up for it. Now shes probably just PO at you and thinking about what an Ahole shes going to marry.

Honestly brother you are going to have FAR FAR FAR more bigger problems then this later in life, just be calm be cool and let it go life is too short for this kind of jazz.

Ahhh. I see. What a crappy parking situation. :(

I'm suprised there haven't been more accidents with all the turns you have to make while backing.

Learn to apologize now. You will have a lot of that ahead when you're married.

WTGDF kind of dorks are you people?

Apologize to HER? Are you fscking KIDDING me??

I would be pissed. Mainly because in my experience girls don't care as much when it's not their crap. Gauranteed (sp?) if it was her newish car it would NOT have happened.

If it was my wife I would just be pissy about it and not let her drive my car.

If it was g/f she would be paying to fix it... and I'm NOT kidding either.

Girls have a hard enough time parking. Youre asking her to park in a place where YOU need to use mirrors that don't even come on the car stock, in order to successfully get out.

On the one hand, the b*tch smashed your car. But you should have seen it coming. Thats like a pilot getting mad at a civilian for not being able to land a stealth bomber properly.

And its just a body panel...nothing is mechanically wrong. If money is tight, don't fix it.

I'd be irritated, but she fighting an uphill battle. She didnt do it on purpose. Let it slide, don't be an asshole.

you'd rant and scream at me for all of about 2 minutes before you'd be handed my insurance agent's card and told that we were all done.

Not good at people skillz are you?

So in her mind, if you're going apeshvt over a small accident...it's an ACCIDENT, imagine what she thinks you'll blow up to when something serious happens...

You have anger issues.

It IS only a car. Imagine how you would react if she backed out of the driveway in front of some idiot driving 50 mph down your street and she's in the hospital.

Sort of puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

But this is also why I drive a beater. I don't need to, but when I owned a new car, it stressed me out thinking that it would get keyed, or scratched, or dented, etc. No worries now that I drive a beater with the paint falling off :)

I would be upset about it, but as long as she is okay and not hurt, don't sweat it. It sucks, yes, but she is a little more important than a car :)

We're the kind of dorks who'd rather get laid and have decent relationships than go around feeling righteous indignation all the time.

By the looks of things, what the OP should have done was get a car cover for the scion, park it outside, put the truck in the hanger and park the scion where the truck is now. That way this would never happen again as it's clear you never drive the truck. Which also brings up a second question, why havent you fscking sold the truck yet?

Borrow her truck and smash it into every light post on your street. Then when shes about to have a seziure on the driveway while she looks at it, just say "hey, its just a car, dont get so mad over it" Then proceed to smash out every window with a baseball bat.

there is a difference. she didn't do it on purpose.

Well had she backed over some little kid's head and splattered his brains all over the driveway, so it was an accident... shes still going to jail for murder. The car is still dented...
