Who's going to confiscate your house for growing veggies?

Apparently, you are not aware that in many states, growing pot is considered distribution, dealing and a conspiricy. Because of our wonderful SCOTUS decisions, LE can confiscate all of your assets leaving you defenseless. How do you think the local budget contrained police departments get all those neat SWAT toys?

Not deported is not same as treated as animals. They are here illegally because they want those jobs. Because they are here, both their families back home and Americans can afford food. It's a win win.

Then why not set up a "guest worker" program similar to the "bracero" program of a few decades ago...only properly administered?

Allow the farmers to hire from a pre-screened pool of immigrant labor...tested for communicable diseases and criminal backgrounds checked.

Withhold 50% of each worker's pay in an account that draws interest.

That worker can have the withheld pay when he returns to Mexico (or other home nation) and that pay can only be accessed by the original worker in person...not by phone, not by another family member, (with some exceptions, such as verifiable death of worker) AND, the pay MUST be claimed in a timely manner to ensure that the worker actually goes home after the season is over.
Failure to leave would result in deportation and a 5 year disqualification from the program.

If the farmer needs "full-time workers," then he has to hire someone who is a legal resident...not from the labor pool.

The law would have to have some heavy "disincentives" to prevent fraud and abuse, both on the worker level as well as on the employer level.

it'll be a shitstorm if we get DEA raids on unsuspecting grandmas

you know the first victim is going to be the dog, everytime.
If the marijuana finds its way out of the state somehow, and it can be traced back to granny, then I fully expect the house to be raided.

You either want all federal laws enforced or none. Take your pick.

are you in agreement that children should lose their parents who enjoy marijuana but not alcohol or cigarettes?

they do actually get sent to prison you know

Is the drug war something you agree with as a human being?

I want the ones that benefit me enforced and others not enforced.

society ....

current drug laws do not help the society at all unless you think employment is that valuable.. cops judges lawyers prison guards counselors.. etc.. they get money from drug laws being enforced

That's not what I'm talking about at all hal2kilo. He said he wanted cheap veggies, I told him to grow his own. I'm literally telling him to grow his own vegetables with an indoor setup. I know it's possible because I've grown things indoors.

the problem with this is that your dog will still be dead after the DEA raids your house for hydroponic tomatoes and peppers (also why I'm afraid of doing THAT as well!)

"sorry your dog's dead, but thanks for the organic cherry tomatoes!"

Sounds like a giant bureaucracy that will increase cost of labor and produce.

Democrats do manage to run the country well from time to time, not always, but there is no hope for Republicans. It's a guaranteed clusterfvck.
