I think he meant that the muddy creek could NOT be transversed by the zombies. They got stuck in the mud, literally. Something I always thought was weird because it doesn't take any real smarts to pull your foot out of the mud. I think they portrayed it as an intelligence issue but it really shouldn't be. If you keep tugging randomly, you're eventually going to get out. So it sort of implies that older zombies are weaker than fresh ones.

#1 - they did that in TWD, back when the governor split off - the little girl who was playing across the stream had a zombie stuck in the mud next to her, totally buried iirc.

#2 - yeah, the older zombies slow down, you can see that over the course of the TWD. The show really isn't about zombies anymore, but more about survival, the family unit they've created, and how crappy people are to each other in desperate times.

I hate how the three characters are not talking about their experience last episode with their first encounter. 2nd episode was suspenseful and annoying at the same time.

Why did the ex-wife mom suddenly change her mind when she saw the dead homeless guy's face?

Fear the Walking into a coma so boring. It does have potential though.

Episode 1 was very good. Episode 2 became increasingly frustrating because these people clearly knew something bad was happening, and they were planning on getting TF out of town, but they just sat around on their asses the whole entire episode. I get this feeling like the whole entire first season is going to be them stuck in the city because they were too stupid to get out when they could. Another extremely frustrating thing was that the parents never texted the kids. This is the kind of text you need to send your kids when shtf:

"SHTF GET YOUR FUCKING ASS HOME NOW"

Considering we are looking at TWO dysfunctional families I wouldn't be too surprised.

I hate it when shows do that. Crap writing imo. Started noticing it in season 3 of Lost...time filler garbage. Look at all this drama because we don't communicate with each other!

What a load of shit. This show is so fake, I can't believe it.

There's no way that that scaffolding would still have had all its light bulbs. I live in a reasonably good area and building scaffolding had all of those bulbs, also within reaching distance from the sidewalk, boosted within a week or two of being installed.

The father is a weak Cali liberal who probably thinks that zombies have rights, too. He made his stance on guns clear when the barber was showing his son how to operate the shotgun. We'll see how long his feelings about guns lasts...

This episode was extremely weak. The only highlight was the barber showing that he has some idea of what's going on, and some ability to do what needs to be done, when he blew the neighbor's head off. It also appears that he has SOME level of interesting back story (i.e. a backstory > 0, like the rest of the cast). He's from El Salvador, knows how to use a weapon, and kept talking about calling his "cousin." I'm guessing former MS13 gang member.

Well, I was ready to watch it at AMC.com a little before 8AM Eastern this morning but it still had the message about it being available "the next day." This made me think that "next day" must mean "24 hours," but I just checked agin and it's suddenly available. WTH?! It's much too late for me to watch now.

Yeah and he was so good in Gang Related. Maybe he will morph back into that character in time.

I hope this picks up in the next few episodes or changes its name to "Bore the Walking Dead".

The thing that irks me the most is the lack of proper reactions:

1. When they killed the drug dealer
2. When they killed the principal
3. When they killed the neighbor eating the dog

People would be FLIPPING OUT if those things happened IRL! Especially since the mom & dad were both parents AND teachers. No one called 911. No one freaked out. No one did anything. That's what bugs me is how unbelievable the reactions are. It doesn't sell the show for me.

Buuuuuuuut because I am a TWD fan & there's nothing else on...:awe:

Dad: Hello, 911 ?? I just had my home invaded by my neighbor and some guy who sheltered me briefly blew the neighbors head off !!

911: You have reached LAPD. We are unable to take your call right now. If you are calling about the zombie apocalypse, please dial 1. If you are calling about a gang related event, please dial 2. If you are calling about our upcoming fundraider, please dial 3. For all other questions, dial 4.

Dad: *presses 3*

*facepalm*

Getting disappointed too. Look, I get it. Different cast and maybe not the best acting chemistry between them and the writing is different even if it has the same TWD producers and writers names on it. This was meant to do one thing... Be temporary or one season mini series. That's is. It was also meant to suck a bunch of ad revenue into AMC...

That last bit right there is why I worry about TWD going forward. I don't expect the show to last forever, but expect it to last the majority of plots found in the web comic. AMC hit gold with TWD cast... Pure gold.

I think what they should have done with this new series is that instead of showing these dysfunctional families they should have focused in on the emergency responders (Fire, Police, AMT, and military) as that would have been a far more interesting story line.

I wish everyone on the show would die so the focus could shift back to Tobias. I think it's pretty obvious that Tobias is going to end up being the king of all land West of the Mississippi river.

Daryl will be the king East of the Mississippi.

If I was involved in an old fashioned riot, seeing someone chew the face of another person might snap me out of looting frenzy.

I love how the idiot fathers truck was untouched after sitting in the middle of a riot for hours. After getting to the truck he didn't seem to have much trouble getting out of the area even though the cops had everything blocked off.

These idiots need to learn how to close doors.

The dysfunctional family angle could be done a heck of a lot better, BUT, I'd rather see it than purely from the perspective of first responders.

It is looking like there's a bit of a higher-level play here, and you couldn't really work with that story line very well if you are using those who are implementing the work of those higher players. Is it a coverup or other conspiracy? You risk making a bad show a heck of a lot worse by trying to dangle that carrot when using the very people who have to answer to those orders. Yes, they may not know everything, but they're a lot closer to the answers than random families.

Which brings me back to the end of Ep 3. It hints at hopefully some better plot development going forward. Regardless of the proper character responses or not, I have a feeling most of that was simply quick plot pushing to get to the meat of the show, with some obvious contrived plot events serving to simply advance the story quickly or to setup a quick resolution and plot advance later on.

The end, bringing in more direct contact with the military, that hints that we'll get to see more of the possible conspiracies.

Hopefully the barbershop family sticks around, because I want to see more of that barber, and definitely his "cousin." I think, though I may be wrong, that the daughter noted that dad had no surviving family or something to that effect, so she tried to call him out on that.. and he basically told her with one quick glare, "don't you ask me about that ever again."
Or I may be remembering that completely wrong, but... whatever, I've already deleted the recording, plus I'm at work. :D

I'm glad someone else thought that was far too convenient. Oh well, I think the first episodes were written to simply get to the point faster, getting key things like the barber family but otherwise trying to skip right to the end without dragging it out longer than need be.

I'm a completionist and a sucker for all things Walking Dead. I think there is hope for the show, but we'll see whether that pans out or not.

Oh definitely, I think he's going to be a main character. Him & the mom are the only useful ones right now. She's going to be Rick the leader & he's going to be Darryl the guy who gets stuff done. His wife will die from the leg thing. Tobias will probably die tragically at the end of season one, although it'd be more fun if he stuck around for awhile.
