my first account was a yahoo one back in 2001. i had the pleasure of getting 6 MB!! eventually it was upgraded to 100, then to 250, and is now 1GB. i then got a hotmail account for MSN messnger, but never used it and it probablly dies, and then got a walla one which offers 3GB for free, but it's interface suck and i use it for junk email only. when gmail just came out, i found this website that gave me an invitation and then got gmail. i have like 3 gmail accounts. i like gmail, tho i wish it would work better in opera. my main email accounts are gmail and yahoo.

I can create as many throw away email addresses as I want (in about 30 sec).

If you use a catchall then you can make addresses up on the fly. If you do this when you sign up for services then you can somewhat track where the spammers get your e-mail from.

Like if you signed up with ABC Corp. and used abccorp@domain.tld, and then you got spam to said address you would know where the source was from.

I prefer this to creating a new account for every alias. The downside is you will now get some spam from people trying to guess accounts. (admin@, webmaster@, billing@, sales@, etc.)

Wow, thank you for the helpful replies. The new Hotmail interface isnt even that great looking - i think the Yahoo beta still looks nicer.

Didn't Hotmail offer 2MB at one point?

i don't like gmail the best but everyone has that address so i keep using it. i like being able to put my mail into folders (it's probably some genetic defect i have). otherwise gmail is fine.

had hotmail, switched to gmail. Never ever going back. Also I couldn't use my hotmail for AT, but it took my gmail account fine 🙂

I also had yahoo for like a very short time, never gave out the email address and somehow all the spammers target it - it gets literally hundreds every day, sometimes breaking 1000 spam emails. nice.... no thanks

Definitely NOT Penn State's webmail. It's, quite simply, the worst hack of a mail client ever, and it's essentially the ONLY option for off-campus residents, and the only option for many on-campus residents.

First ever web based e-mail was Hotmail for me, then I switched over to gMail, now I love Hotmail Live Beta, the UI is nice and clean.
Wow, just took a look at some screenshots of Hotmail Live, it looks great! Like OWA, but even lighter and cleaner. Very nice!
These new interfaces don't play well with Opera though (nor FF)... I had to revert back to the old Hotmail. The browser of my choice is more important. They should get in gear.
I actually like the way Live looks in FF more than the IE version. If they could get the looks of the FF version with the features of the IE version, I'd put it over gmail.
