Favorite videocard of all time?

Now, I've only owned 4 videocards: voodoo 3, radeon 7000, radeon 9500 pro, and radeon X850XT PE

My favorite was and always will be 9500 pro. For just 200 bucks, it played any game I wanted for 4 years. Last summer I built new pc and went with X850XT PE, even though 9500 pro still would of played all the games that I play except for oblivion.

Radeon 7000 wasn't so much liked by me. At the time I didn't know how to build PC, so I asked my friend/pc builder to put geforce 2 as a gpu, since I heard it was good. He ended up going with radeon 7000 because Geforce 2 was alot more at the time. Radeon 7000 was fine for Unreal Tournament and warcraft 3, but I replaced it when 9500 pro came out.

My current card would have to be my favorite. It just kept getting better.

At first it was just a 6800nu, but later I was able to unlock it. Throw in Purevideo, HDR, SM3.0 and now Transparency AA. I keep waiting for NVIDIA to come out with a patch to make it DirectX 10 Compliant. It's one thing to start out with a great card, it's another for it to keep getting better.

Worst card....I had a S3 that cut me when I was pulling it out of a case. :|

Gainward TI4200 was my favorite just because it was cheap and it overclocked like mad. It was also a big jump in performance at the time. A close second is my old X800XT PE I got back when it was a Phantom edition. That was a nice performance jump too.

My least favorite was a Radeon 64MB (the original Radeon) I just had to try out. Back then ATI drivers were crap and it showed when I couldn't play nearly half my game collection. It resided all of 2 days in my computer.

My biggest love/hate was the Voodoo 5 5500 (still the best Counter Strike graphics I've seen to date). I loved it while 3dfx was in business, but when nVidia bought them and driver development ceased, I began to hate the fact I spent nearly $300 on it :|.

Favorite: Diamond 3dfx voodoo. This is the card that revolutionized gaming. The difference it made was astronomical, nothing since has even come close.

Least Favorite: nVidia tnt2 ultra. I bought this card to replace my aging voodoo2 card. It was faster, but it was a nightmare to deal with. If I got a new game, it would NEVER run without a weeks worth of tinkering and driver changes. The IQ was usually terrible until a new driver would come out but by then I was finished with the game anyway. It wasn't too long after I got this that the first GeForce cards were released and any serious support for the ultra card soon vanished. On the bright side the card is still in use in one of my other systems.... :)

My two diamond Voodoo2 12mb cards in SLI, in conjunction with a Riva TNT2. That setup lasted me so long, I didnt upgrade again until GeForce 4.

Favorites:
1) ATI 9500pro - cheap and overclocked like crazy
2) eVGA 7800GT - came w/ a free SLI mobo - AGP -> PCI-Express was so easy
3) Leadtek 4400ti - custom cooling and it overclocked beyond 4600ti specs
4) eVGA 6800 Limited Edition 256MB - Bios flashed to a 6800 Ultra 425/1100!

Least Favorites:
1) PowerColor 9800se - waste of money - good thing I still had my 9500pro
2) PNY GeForce 2 MX - craptastic! - used while my 4400ti was being shipped
3) Sparkle 5600 nu - waaaaay slower than my 4400ti - sold it quickly
4) ATI 9600pro - why did they take the 9500pro off the market so soon?

How can no one say 6600GT yet. That card has to be my favorite. Sure, I didn't own one but I know a lot of people who did and it still works well.

Favorites (in no particular order):
-9800Pro 256, flashed to XT
-9500 Pro, great OCer and Good performer
-7900GT (the one I have now) OC's like mad
-X1900XT (you can get them pretty cheap now, and one very good performer)

I know 2 of 3 are fairly modern cards, but I wasn't around here with all the older cards. But you can't deny that there good cards :)

Least Favorite (in to particular order) (and I havn't ownd any of them, except the 9600XT):
-7800GTX 512 (waste of money when 7900's came out)
-9600XT, slower then my 9500 Pro

Best: Radeon 9700 Pro - the biggest leap ever, KO'd NV for a while, lasted for YEARS (My nextr card was my former X800XTPE :thumbsup;).
Worst: Riva TNT2 and GeForce MX family - I hope NV will be haunted forver for all those disgusting, ****** PoS blurry-as-hell cards with underclocked cores with half-piped memory modules they allowed to be sold by the world's crappiest junk manufacturers.

Best: Radeon 9700Pro, Geforce3, 3dfx Voodoo2 SLI
worst: 3dfx voodoo5 5500(no T&L support, and features that were never used), ATI Rage 128 Pro (crap slow for games), any Geforce MX card.

Favorites: Voodoo Elephant (6MB) / TNT2 / GeForce256 / GeForce2 GTS / TI4200 / ATI 9700PRO / X800XT-PE / 7800GTX / 7950 GX2
Most hated ones: Radeon 8500 / Nvidia 5950 Ultra

And there were others cards that I would call 'OK', like GF3 Ti200, Voodoo 2/3/4, TNT1 / 9800PRO etc.

My favorite right now is my X1900XT, even though I haven't used it yet. :p

The one in my parents' computer is a GeForce FX 5200. The FX line sucks.

I would have to say that my favorite graphics card of all time was my Voodoo 4 4500 32MB AGP. I believe I paid about 260 dollars in 2000. It was probably the best bang for my buck ever in my life. I was able to play anything on it. LOOL @ the guy who said best CS graphics some posts up. ITS SO TRUE! It was the card that I paid the least for (ever in my life) and the card that gave me the most for my money. Right next to that comes my Sapphire 9800 PRO. Too bad I shelled out 450 dollars for that when it just came out. Thats why I dont place it first, because I got an excellent card, but I also paid for it.

The worst card I ever owned would have to be the Radeon VE. Wow what a piece of junk that was. And that was the card I got right after the Voodoo. Imagine my face. I was like, wow I want my voodoo back (at the time, I had upgraded to a P3 and the board did not run well with my old voodoo, so I had to grab a radeon). Holy hell I will never forget that piece of crap.

Radeon 9500 256-bit softmod to 9700.

It was a bargoon at a mere $157 in January 2003 (the most I had ever spent on a viddy card) but was really only a $50 upgrade over what I was able to sell my 8500 for :)

That sucka o'erclocked nicely too with just a silent Zalman "passive" HS. Two and a half years of gaming and TVO goodness sans issue. Memoorieees. :music:

Favorite, MX420. This thing lasted me too long for my own good.

Least favorite, Radeon 9550. It gave me a taste of DX9 but the performance was so bad I had to turn it all down. Damn you 9550!

I've only owned three cards, though :D

Favorite: Tie between 12mb STB Blackmagic Voodoo2 and 3DFX Voodoo5 5500. Both excellent cards that worked great, especially in the Driver department which were always rock solid(even the Voodoo 5 User made drivers were excellent)

Least favorite: Diamond S2000. Worked great in 2 games, Unreal Tournament and Q3, but every other game had some kind of graphical glitch including Windows itself. Drivers were crappy as well, just an all around crappy card.
