I think that I've bolded the actual problem. People validating themselves using others that they assume are the norm would be an issue. Honestly, I was mostly annoyed because it's the typical Internet bully garbage where none of these people would act this way toward someone in real life. I also don't think that shaming people is the correct way to go about it, but I'm not really too sure what is the best way.
I've actually been working on slimming down a bit (has been going well so far), and I certainly notice that I have a certain attitude toward obesity-related things. For example, I know someone that had one of the weight-loss surgeries, and I simply cannot feel happy for that person. I just have this pervasive thought that they're essentially cheating. I think it's really important to have that
mental change to push yourself to be a bit more cautious over what you eat and not a
physical change to
force yourself to eat less. I can't remember the person's exact words, but I had someone tell me that they were proud of the way they are or something like that. That just blew my mind. I also hate terms like "BBW" or "Fluffy." I guess I'm just a self-hating fatty.
I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. Portion control is
calorie control, and chances are that two ham sandwiches are within what someone should have in a single meal -- that's including things like
an appropriate amount of cheese and mayo. Do note the emphasis placed on "an appropriate amount" as those two items normally have quite the amount of calories!
Honestly, I think you're making a ton of assumptions that are all falling on the negative side because that's what you
want it to be.
