About 120 in my 77 Scirocco. Not sure since the speedo stopped at 100.
135 in a 99 Eclipse

110 Mph in the BMW - early morning - sun hadnt come up yet.. predawn. Turned the lights off and let her off cruise. Got it going for about 45 minutes in total. I did in total comfort radar detector was on but I was still careful. This was between San Luis Obispo and Salinas on the 101. Slowed down +/- 20miles around King City.

140 Mph down the back plane of Ingonottu tracks in a Formula 3 car.

100Kmph (62Mph) on a wet narrow forest road - rally style. That scared the sh*t out of me.. and I was driving.

jsm yes indeed you must be cracked out as tehre are many places where speeds such as being mentioned are perfectly legal and fine.

bobtist: you beat me to it. Unless its EXTENSIVELY moded there is no way it could hit 165

Fastest I've been is about 125.

For the speed limiters on so many cars today we have alot of people with fast cars.......

About 180? MPH (295 km/h) in a friend's tuned Supra Twin-Turbo. I was not driving though, a truly horrid experience!

I've told this story before, but....

I got clocked at 126mph after throttling down from 157mph...in a 35mph zone. Car was/is a 1988 Mustang Saleen. Got away with a verbal warning.

That's the fastest I've ever driven in a car.

"Andrey. You are FULL of it. 165?! That's impossible in a car that has 200hp and weighs 3509lbs."

Andrey, get real. You don't have to impress us at all cost...;)

Fastest I ever went was 160mph on my Kawasaki back in the days in Germany.

Oh yeah, and today I do about 120mph when jumping out of airplanes - before I pull the ripcord - Skydive guys!!! It's fun!

:D:D:D:D

<< 112 MPH in a Honda Civic...silly speed regulator. Only at 4500 rpm too. 6600 rpm redline. >>

That was probably the max. I don't think civics have speed regulators.

Thanks for the response, Soybomb.

You said: "jsm yes indeed you must be cracked out as tehre are many places where speeds such as being mentioned are perfectly legal and fine."

Well, I live in California and it is not legal to drive above 100mph. In fact, I can only think of one place where it is legal to go 100mph - and that is in Germany on the autobahn. I have also heard that it is perfectly legal to drive at a high speed in parts of Montana, but I may be mistaken. Of course, I would love to be enlightened on this subject as I have not traveled extensively.

Anyhow, it is also legal in some places for people to partake of some substances that is illegal in other lands. For instance, in Holland (aka the Netherlands), it is legal to smoke marijuana & hash (or at least tolerated).

So, what specific region has the supreme law that we are going to deem as supreme? North / South Carolina (is there a difference?), California, the UK, India?

Why can we not talk about warez here? Why can we talk about Napster even though it is theoretically illegal since it is breaking copyright laws? Can we talk about using DeCSS here and get away with it? Again, why do we tolerate talking about driving at illegal speeds and not allow talking about the utilization of illicit substances? What is allowable converastion on Anandtech and what is not? And more importantly, WHY?

I just want a nice, logical response. That's all!

Kaiotes, I believe it is near the off ramp for 92. I have driven down that road many, many times at high rates of speed - just to feel the boost of my turbos.

120 in my first car. A 65 Mustang.
The car was loaded with 3 other guys too.
On the 101 right in Agoura Hills.
Not too smart but I was young.

jsm, the two are a difference in seriousness. Speeding is regarded as an infraction, cop pulls you over, makes you sign a paper, lets you go. Drug use/possession is usually a misdemeanor/felony offense, and is much more serious than speeding. For the latter, you usually get hauled off to jail instead of let go. Besides, if topics on speeding were banned, you'd have to do the same for jaywalking and riding a bike in nondesignated areas, because those are also infractions.

I did about 130 in a 95 Acura Legend on the 605 going north (that's in southern cal, btw) at like 3 in the morning. And my foot wasn't even all the way down on the pedal! I probably could've pushed it to 140 or 150.

Since it's a big 6cylinder car, Up until 120 i barely felt anything. It was only until 130 that I felt something and I started to let up.

did I mention i was also drunk??

just kidding i wasn't. but what's worse? drunken high speed driving or drugs???

WIth drunk driving you can kill people, with drugs, you can't hurt anyone.

So i say, drugs are good, drunk driving is bad!
