Hmm, all right. I just installed it and played through it, but since I haven't played FarCry in ages I don't know what the changes are. Is there some way to tell if it is working or now?

Kind of in the same boat. I noticed a new AMD64 startup screen though.

do the levels look like my screenshots? Do you have offset bumpmapping on the rocks? Thats probably the easiest way to tell i guess :)

While the storyline and cut scenes are not the best in the world i find it great fun, something i never found about d3. A child could have come up with the level design in d3, and gameplay style- shoot, turn around and wait for things to spawn behind you in a cramped corridor or room, shoot, turn around and wait for things to spawn behind you in a cramped corridor or room, repeat ad nauseam. All the little pda's in the world can't save that and make it fun after a while (imo at least).

Farcry has massively varied level design and very different playing styles (from cramped corridors and indoors stuff like catcombs, to unbelievably vast outdoor areas (pier, research), from fighting on foot to in vehicles and boats...plus it looks stunning and makes full use of the CryEngine...

Farcry was the sleeper hit, and even d3's own greatest fans would be hard pushed to admit that d3 lived up to it's hype. It did nothing to expand or advance the FPS genre imo...

Agreed... the thing that gets me is everyone was ooooh and aaaaahing over Doom 3's visuals... well hell anyone can make a game look good in the dark LOL

From TweakGuides.com:
"To skip the introductory movies (Ubisoft, Crytek, Sandbox logos) every time you load up Far Cry, just go to your \UBISOFT\Crytek\Far Cry\Languages\Movies\English\ directory, and create backups of (or rename) the files Crytek.bik, Sandbox.bik, and Ubi.bik. Now create three new (empty) text files and rename them to the above filenames and place them in the same directory."

You can also do this for the new AMD64 startup movie.

Dug,

So you recommend replacing the files themselves instead of overwriting the entire directory?
I got the HDR+AA patch and now I'm going to try to add this to that. Let's see how it works out.

yes. at least, from what i could see there's a lot more in the files than the ones you are replacing them with. I came out with it working perfectly the way i went for what it's worth (as you can see from the screen shots).

If you run this patch on a 32-bit cpu, doesnt it make the game run slower?

I have a AMD64, and not that windows could run 64 bit code in a 32 bit environment but I just want to know if the patch is for 32 bit or 64 bit version of the game?

YOU CAN USE THIS WITH 32-BIT XP AND A 32-BIT PROCESSOR>the screen shots in the OP are taken on my Tbred-b with XP Pro.

It DOES NOT make the game noticeably slower on mine (although i would imagine i see a 'marginal' drop in fps due to the increased draw distances).

These are extended content patches, both named in the OP...

UPDATE!

I got this patch working perfectly. Thanks Doug. I also did the HDR+AA patch on top of this and that works also! So if you have an x1800xl/xt and want the 64bit content, along with HDR+AA here's how:

Install FarCry. Patch it to 1.30, 1.31 and then 1.33.
Follow the HDR+AA patch process.
Follow DUG's instuction on the post #4 and replace all those files.
Go back to the HDR+AA patch .rar and copy the scripts.pak into the right directory.

Start FarCry and visually it's a whole new game. Right now, with all the 64bit content and HDR+AA at 1920x1200, it's the best looking game. Enjoy it. I know I am!

OK, I have tried to install the 64bit patch numerous times like the guide says, and everytime it gives me an error message saying my processor is not supported. I'm using an A64, WTF!

You have to be using XP Pro x64 for your processor to be working in 64 bit mode (and for the official patch to work).

What I ended up doing was downloading the file from this Ars Technica thread. It worked nicely.

Sweet, probly try this out shortly. Its been a long time since I've played Far Cry: do you still have to manually enable SM3 with the latest patches?
