BWD? 😕

20 tickets is an exaggeration. Probably more like 10-12...I've been driving for a long time and had my fair share of stupid tickets when I was younger, mostly speeding. As of late, I've been pulled over once in the last 10 years.

I was wondering if you were Driving while black with 20 tickets?

I've had 1 ticket in over 20 years and never wore a seat belt, ever. Although I drive like an old man... 55 is all good for me🙂

He's an "idealist" and cannot see the difference between trivial and important battles. Self-aggrandizing is his defining characteristic.

I don't think he is Self-aggrandizing Z knows Self-aggrandizement LOL. And it's nice to see someone with balls to do what's right all the time. Often we are beat down by the system, the layer cake if you will, or a family to support into doing things against our morals or even illegal (such as whole precincts in NYPD forcing officers to report false crime stats, google it) Course sometimes POW has a strange view on what he should do very subjective whereas most of us abide by ROL.

I feel your pain OP. If I do something wrong I'll accept the consequences, but I hate being falsely accused of doing something. It's got nothing to do with money, it's just principal. I doubt a lawsuit would be worth the hassle, but at least show up to the court date with your witness, and try to get out of the ticket.

Court tomorrow, so if I don't post for a few weeks I'm likely sitting in jail for contempt or something similar. Still hopeful, but the pessimist/conspiricist in me is veeeeeerrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy nervous.

Shoulda paid the fine. 😛

Or installed your own personal video surveillance in your vehicle to record while you drive.

I don't understand why you're nervous since you said you don't care about the outcome?

I think you're doing the right thing, many people say "just pay the fine, just give in" and that's exactly how the system got to be how it is today; many people find it a convenience to give up their rights/morals and just go about their day.

Is the OP planning on showing the judge the outpouring of sympathy and credibility that the ATOT community is showering him with?

If this is part of your defense, I can't help but laugh.

What makes you think I don't care? I've said the consequences don't dictate my response, not that I don't care about what happens (or at least that's what I meant). This is about justice and right, I can't imagine anything that would matter more.

If I'm found guilty (of a crime I didn't commit), I'm going to lose my license, face ever increasing fines (since I'll never pay), and could even be looking at jail for contempt of court or eventual confrontations over the situation. My entire life could be altered or potentially ruined from the false accusation of a public servant. I'd say that's something to be nervous about.

dude, you would spend a day in a holding cell then cry out you'd pay whatever the fuck they want.

You'd have to be a moron to make yourself and example out of a seat belt ticket.

In the end no matter what you profess everyone is going to think you were still guilty.

I've spent time in jail, it's no big deal. I mean, it sucks, but when you're right you're right, and that's all that matters in the end.

You'd have to be a worthless waste of flesh to not stand up for what's right, no matter the degree of violation.

In the end, most people are ignorant meat and useless sheep anyway. I don't much care what people think, only what's on the record. I did nothing wrong.

omg..

that's the funniest thing i've ever read.

overreact much???

You do realize if you please guilty, it's just an arraignment. you dont get to plead your case right there.

It's traffic court, not criminal court. By requesting the hearing you've already done the equivalent of entering a plea. This is the entirety of the process. I get to present my entire case and argument, enter my witness testimony or other evidence, and the judge decides it right there.

Then Washington State is completely different from Colorado, and New York State.

In both, as soon as you plead not guilty, the judge sets a trial date.

It's the legal process as it stands, I'm not making it up. When you refuse to pay a fine they revoke your license. You incur both interest and penalties while the fine remains unpaid. As should be obvious from my posts on these forums I have tendency to piss people off pretty severely, so contempt charges are a definite possibility.

Yes, the odds (and reasonable outcome) is they dismiss the citation. However, all too often I've seen things not go the way they should; hence my hesitation and nerves.

You 'plead' here when you send in the ticket.

Either you pay the fines and penalties (and it goes on your record), you request mitigation (you did it, but you're asking for a lesser fine or for traffic court to not have it entered onto your record), or you contest the ticket and get a trial date assigned. I chose the third option obviously. Because it's traffic court, not criminal court, you don't get a lawyer unless you get yourself one, and other differences as well.

i know it's the process, but seriously.... CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES.

A seatbelt ticket isn't worth fighting over and all that wasted time, money, and loss of income.

It's like taking a case to the Supreme Court for a littering ticket.

In the end.. YOU LOSE.. even if you win.

Choose what battles to fight.

This one isn't worth it.

You're not going to change ANYTHING, and the only person who will go thru hardship.. is you

Doesn't matter, right it right. There is no degree, only truth. I'd kill or die, or see the entire planet spin into the sun, for a $.01 ticket if it was over something I didn't do. I realize most don't agree, but that's because most people are REALLY bad humans.

wow.

that tells me right there... you're insane.

instead of "fighting injustice" of a possibly bad ticket... why aren't you running for president? or congress?

because all you do is talk shit.

no balls to get up and do anything if it doesn't affect you.
