Kind of. I really hate that consoles hold back graphics developments. Is this game going to be using DX9 or what? I have a DX11 card now and really want DX11 games.

Of course this game won't use DX11. They're using nearly a 5yr old graphics platform. This game doesn't look much better than Fallout 3 which is sad as Fallout 3 wasn't a good looking game at all.

Something that's plaguing Obsidian a lot. They've got the talent, but, for whatever reason, their games all need about 6 more months of polish before being released.

I have a friend who has worked at Obsidian for years, and this is pretty much it. They do have a bunch of talent but they are not a huge developer and never have enough budget/time from their publishers to make a really polished product (see KOTOR 2 for the prime example). I have high hopes for New Vegas, though, since it will be such a high profile project and a lot of the guys working on it worked on FO1 and 2.

I thought FO3 looked great. I really liked the world you got to run around in.
World wasn't horrible, though the lighting sure was atrocious. The NPC's, animations in first and third person, and first person weapon models were just plain bad however, in my opinion. Most of those elements looked like they were done by a mod team, and just thrown into Oblivion with no effort or thought.
You should play 3, it was a really, really solid game.
If it was Morrowind with guns, rather than Oblivion with guns I'd agree with you.

Ditto, i thought it looked fine.

The textures looked as old as the engine did. Some of the lighting looked decent but the textures didn't have any depth to them. Sure stuff was supposed to look bland but there really much thought given to any of them. They reused the same stuff for pretty much everything. All the "dungeons" looked exactly the same. Nothing really looked different. Hell even the tree/forest area with the living tree didn't look that good at all.

Oblivion was the exact same way. Some hills, a few rocks and tree's, then copy paste until you have a huge map. Then you have maybe 3 dungeon types, but if you played one of each, you might as well skip the rest.

This is on the console side(PS3), but i saw this thread on the PC version, so i though i might as well post here since this thread is active

So, Cool Story Bro.

I today i popped by copy of Fallout 3 after like a year and half and played it again(Now in HD)

First of all, for some reason, i would headaches from playing the game back when i had my old SD tv, i don't know why, it was really annoying, so i just played the main quest and put the game away.

Anyways, today i returned to the game in order to just get back in the fallout mood since i'll be picking up fallout new vegas soon. First, the game(at least for me) feels a lot smoother on HD, graphics are more detailed and woopy do! i dont get sick from playing the game anymore. Now i'm gonna start on some of the side quest, etc. I'm pumped up, gonna get the alien weapon and just beat some other sidequest. Cool story bros? Anyways, it'd be tight if they let you import your character from your fallout 3 save files, sorta get a head start would be pretty cool, be stocked up in weapons, leved up, etc. Anyways, in the name of fallout, disregarding whatever platform, i can't wait for new vegas!!! :awe:

I'm looking forward to it, there can never be enough good post-apocalyptic games out there. Most of these types and less lameass elves and wizards.

I'm excited about the "hardcore" mode they are so proud of. Eating, drinking, sleeping and limited ammo REALLY should add a lot of atmosphere to the game.

I'm kinda neutral about them using the same engine as FO3. On one side, it does look dated. On the other hand, it makes modding the game that much easier for the crowds already out there.

If Oscuro is really working on Hardcore mode, it should be something to really look forward to.

Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition comes with:

"Lucky 7" poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game.
A recreation of the game's highly coveted "Lucky 38" platinum chip.
A hardcover graphic novel "All Roads", that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. "All Roads" was written by Chris Avellone and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
The Making of Fallout: New Vegas' DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation.

What does the collectors edition come with?

I am very excited about Fallout: New Vegas. Pre-ordered the collector's edition as soon as it was being offered. With Amazon Prime, I'll also get it on release date too.

I'm not going to have a life on release day. :D

does anyone pay attention to it?

I remember seeing it on reddit a few days ago because someone was excited about it describing partial nudity and hookers.

Fallout: New Vegas

Platform: Windows PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Rating: Mature

Content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, Strong Language, Use of Drugs

Rating summary:
This is an action role-playing game, set in a post-apocalyptic Mojave Desert, in which players assume the role of a survivor hero who investigates a mystery and performs a series of quests. Missions allow players to explore the Mojave Desert, surrounding casinos, and abandoned facilities; other quests involve combat with human and mutant survivors. Players use chainsaws, laser rifles, knives, and sledgehammers to kill enemies. Fighting can be frenetic and intense, highlighted by various camera effects (e.g., slow motion, blurring, screen shakes) and depictions of dismemberment, blood spray, and blood trails. In one sequence, players can choose to activate a collar bomb around a slave-woman's neck, resulting in depictions of blood and gore. During the course of the game, players will encounter male and female prostitutes: the screen fades to black as suggestive dialogue is heard in the background (e.g., "Nice charlies, too! Give them a shake for the Ben-man, will ya?"); there is also an extended sequence suggesting (no depiction) sexual activity with a robot (e.g., "Fisto reporting for duty . . . Please assume the position," "I suppose I should test you out . . . Servos active!" and "Something wrong with someone if they got to f**k a machine."). The storyline sometimes references a fictional drug called "chems," as well as "Day Trippers," "cracked out junkies," and "degenerate, drug-addicted killers." Players' Character can be seen consuming the drugs, which sometimes leads to a screen-blurring effect.
