Looks interesting. 2 hour premiere tonight at 8 pm CST.

Falling Skies

Falling Skies tells the story of the aftermath of an alien invasion. It follows a group of survivors who must band together in order to fight back against the invading aliens. The group, known as the 2nd Mass (for "Massachusetts"), is led by Boston University history professor Tom Mason who, while in search of his son, must put his extensive knowledge of military history into practice as one of the leaders of the resistance movement.[2][3]

Forgot it was on. Was looking forward to this. The Pilot is being repeated right now so I am watching it.

Sadly, it is apparent that this is not going to be action movie paced. So, it is going to rely heavily on character interactions to succeed. I can only hope that it does.

So far, about 25 minutes in .... I am giving it a rating of "meh".

Sounds like an aliens version of Walking Dead then?
These apocalypse plots interest me. Keep this thread updated. And if anyone gives it an emphatic , I'll be in.

RedRooster,

This is not my type of show. It might be character introduction right now so I can not pass judgement yet. Actually, 40 minutes in, it is starting to get a little more into the aliens.
Just had the real first close corridors gun fight with 2 baddies.

Never saw walking dead so I can not compare it.

EDIT: Ya, it's getting a little more interesting.

kind of meh, but it could have potential.

And TNT has to be the most annoying network on tv. Every 5 minutes "you are watching FALLING SKIES. You are now returning to FALLING SKIES. FALLING SKIES IS A NEW TNT SHOW CALLED FALLING SKIES ON TNT THAT YOU ARE WATCHING ON TNT." We get it.

This show is actually geting better and better. The first 40 minutes was kinda meh but it is getting better now. I have about 20 minutes left and it has actually drawn me in quite well.

LOL.

How is that a bad thing? Some people actually want to watch intelligent tv shows, not braindead explosions.

Forget it. Move on with the discussion. So long as I remember it is on next Sunday, I will watch it again.

There are supposed to be 10 episodes this season from what I have read online. I hope it ends with some sort of rational conclusion to the season 1 story arc whatever that is. Seems like they should answer why they are here anyway.

I saw it and liked it pretty well.

i'll give it a couple more episodes to decide if I'll continue the entire show, but from this point, its 100% go.

I'm just wondering how long they can stretch out a show about resisting aliens when they know what they need to do in order to defeat the enemy

take out the giant base in the middle of downtown, but it seems like thats how all outsiders induced (alien or like terminator) apocalypses work in entertainment.

It's possible that a show can contain both though. I haven't watched this yet, so I'm not commenting on Falling Skies... just in general.

I think we'll get that answer around episode 5ish, and maybe they find the weakness of the aliens by the 10th and maybe a destroyed alien command center.

only for season 2 (if its signed up) for them to realize the happiness was short lived and the aliens sent in a bigger base (with more aliens) to rule over the area

I'm guessing that the slimy six-legged aliens are an enslaved species fighting on behalf of the real invaders. (Due to the death scene and the conversation about six-legged aliens vs. 2-legged robots.) Eventually, they will ally with humans to fight the overlords. :hmm:

Falling Skies might be trying to imitate BSG and Walking Dead, which is a good thing if it works. Besides, action scenes are expensive!

I hope not, but what you are saying sounds like its possible if the writers REALLLY wanted to go on that path

the previews for the season had them saying something like "how close are these to humans" when they caught one to do a biopsy on

I watched the entire show last night and thought it was awful. Terrible script and the acting wasn't great. I'll give it another episode but I am not holding my breath.

Further evidence I dont actually NEED television any more.

I don't know WTF I am going to do in the fall without football (if it comes to that) to watch on TV. About the only series I watch regularly is Leverage, which is fortunately starting again next week. I just haven't found any other shows which really interest me. I had high hopes for this one but I'll be surprised if it keeps my interest beyond next week. This has V written all over it.
