Forgot about this, thanks for the reminder. I just remote-programmed my TiVo to pick up the repeat at 1 AM tonight.

I enjoyed it, will watch it over the summer, although 10pm Sunday night is a wierd time for a show...i thought of walking dead 'lite' right away...i think we will see a lot of flashbacks to the actual invasion at some point because trailers showed the invasion.

I thought it was alright. My problem is that they had a webcomic series on the website that the TV series picks up immediately from. The webcomic series still jumps in months after the invasion but does a better job of setting everything up, introducing the characters and kind of explaining the 'harness'. It also has some good action sequences with a big action finale.

Why they turned all of that into a webcomic instead of opening the show up with that is beyond me.

even my wife, who is a card-carrying member of the Oprah Network and Lifetime channel, thought there wasn't enough action.

maybe it was because of the 2 hour format for the premiere.

i thought it was pretty meh... we're going to give it 1 more episode before we give up on it.

can Spielberg get involved with anything that doesn't utilize a little cloying kid to replace the emotional center of the plot?

kind of meh, but it could have potential.

And TNT has to be the most annoying network on tv. Every 5 minutes "you are watching FALLING SKIES. You are now returning to FALLING SKIES. FALLING SKIES IS A NEW TNT SHOW CALLED FALLING SKIES ON TNT THAT YOU ARE WATCHING ON TNT." We get it.

haha. x100%

Most of the emotional/romance stuff in the pilot seemed to be recycled from any number of other shows:

1. Sad, annoying little kid wants things to "just be the same" again. Audience goes "Awww." Gee, I never saw that one coming. CHECK.

2. Whiney, angst-ridden teenage boy. CHECK

3. Emerging love triangle between aforementioned kid and two opposite girls, nearly resulting in cat fight. CHECK

4. Unsung/unwilling hero on course for hook up with unsung/unwilling hero (Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood). CHECK

5. Guy with book knowledge ridiculed by military guy but will undoubtedly "win his respect" at later date (assuming the show lasts). CHECK

I know that their idea of "limited commercial interruption" and mine are entirely different. Every 10 minutes - not so "limited."

This is TNT we're talking about... the same network that (I think) stretches out a movie to 4 hours and runs 5 minutes of commercials (in a row) for every 5 minutes of movie.

thought it was pretty boring. and terrible acting to boot

I agree. I also found it odd that large packs of people were roaming around outside in the middle of the day without seeming to fear being attacked, yet a single flare draws an alien attack.

It looked interesting from the previews but assumed it'd be full of fail being that it's TNT.

Guess from the responses I was right.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Enough with the kids already. Kids can't act.

I reemmber that scene for some reason. But I do not get it. What is the difference?

Clips are used to load magazines. Magazines feed rounds into the chamber.

finished it this morning. i enjoyed it and will continue to watch it. kind of cliched so far w/the outlaws and stuff, but it was enjoyable.

i really enjoyed the conversation about how humans make robots to be very human like, but the aliens with 6 legs had 2 legged robots. cause personally it bothers me how all movies and shows and stuff portray aliens as these 2 legged creatures with big eyes and tentacles.

was part of the reason i actually enjoyed skyline.

I was surprised...it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting...Yes, I noticed all the same cliche'd stuff that Indy mentioned above...but it's "made for TV," (and not for HBO) you guys don't REALLY expect quality...do you?

So far, I'll rate this as watchable...but not "OMG! It's the best show I've ever seen!" More along the quality of the original Battlestar Galactica, full of cheese, plot holes, mediocre acting and scripts...but still watchable.

Wonder if they could just glue a squid to their back and follow around the other harvested to see what the aliens do with them.

Way too campy and boring. I'll see another episode or so but so far, I think I'll be disappointed.
