Fake Ranger gets called out in mall.

I don't get it.

Soldiers make a career choice and the uniform is part of that career.

If I am the greatest brain surgeon on the face of the earth I don't go screaming at someone walking through the mall because they are wearing surgical scrubs without having a medical license. If I am the greatest chemist in the world that found a way to turn lead into gold I won't scream at the hobo wearing a lab coat. It's just some cloth that the guy was wearing. Who cares?

How many brain surgeons see combat. In the military the uniform means something and isn't just a piece of cloth.

The military uniform is arguably the most personal part of a service members equipment as it reveals identity and the uniqueness of ones trials and accomplishments. It really does detail what that individual sacrificed for family and country. For someone to flippantly slap it on undeservedly looking for attention is horribly disrespectful to every citizen in this country.

The dude just assumed that the general population wouldn't realize that he's claiming to be a veteran of the Korean War.

lol, WOW. Did not realize that.

I heard that some of these impersonators looking for military discounts will go for a high NCO rank with lots of ribbons hoping that real service members will be too intimidated to call them out. If you're going to take that route, it's probably best to not be a fat, clueless looking slob (if this is the same video I saw earlier).

I've been watching Don Shipley the last 2 weeks busting fake Navy Seals. I didn't realize how many people pull this crap. My favorite of Dons is the fake Navy Seal that claimed to have 3 medal of honors, 6 purple hearts, 11 silver stars. No soldier in the history of our country has had more than 2 medal of honors. But this knob claimed to have 3. Don is fun to watch because he lets these people set their own noose then he kicks the chair out from under them.

When I got out of the Army in 92, I decorated my black leather jacket with many of my dress uniform items, like a corded loop that went over your shoulder and under your arm. Hey, I was young, creative, and thought it looked good.

I got called out by a recruiter in the mall who was pissed, and I equally pissed yelled just as much as he did, proving the gear was mine (MoS, where I served and who under, etc ... sure, stuff you could 'learn', but it's hard to fake it to a real soldier).

After all of that, he quieted down, and then tried to get me to sign back up for another tour... hell NO! My first recruiter lied so heavily, including the 'sure, you will be able to stay in states with your newborn and wife' (and then they sent me to Korea).

There is no justification for pretending to be a military vet.

It's down right sickening on 2 fronts:
1) diminishing what that uniforms represents
2) getting off on pretending to be someone you are clearly not

Not sickening to me and I'm a vet, but maybe I'm the outlier. I could have given a shit what some dumb 'tard was walking around in unless he tried to get in line for ammunition or start performing jumpmaster checks on me. Not only that, I went on missions (all peacetime obviously) with 75th Reg guys and a good amount are dumb as a box of rocks and make the giy in this video look like a super genius. You can be an amazing 11B1R (that's the extended MOS code for Ranger junior enlisted) and still have the IQ of Forest Gump. And on the flip side, some of the most brilliant Special Forces/SEALS/Marine Force Recon guys looked like the crazy homeless guy begging for change in front of the gas station when they were in civilian clothes and out in the world.

10 years ago or so the daughter had a new boyfriend that claimed to be an ex SEAL. I didn't believe him and he seemed nervous answering my questions. I found a site and submitted as much info as I could get about the guy. They confirmed that he was never a SEAL. I told the daughter and she blew it off. But they were only together for about 2 months and I never saw him again.
Forgot the name of the site, Not a SEAL or something like that.

I don't know that records of special forces are easily searched up like that.

http://www.rollofhonor.org/ is a self registration site many are on and some will facebook/social media join the group of their squad after service.

One of the key things a special forces guy told me (my fiancees ex claimed to be both SEAL and RANGER, he was both in the Navy and Army but in reality was only an E4 quartermaster when he was finally done), is special force guys don't really like special forces type games.

They have seen real combat and it's not entertaining to them. Most of these 'fake' special force types are constantly talking Call of Duty, Black Ops, etc. They love to tell the stories of killing people (another thing most special force or even combat soldiers really don't like to talk about).

Surprised the phony didn't just walk away or question back why he's getting the 3rd degree after realizing he's being challenged with question after question. To stand there and take it is pretty arrogant.

The person conducting the ass chewing isn't an exception or an asshole. He's doing fine. I've seen worse from someone having their hands in their pocket or forgetting to salute an officer because they were on their cell phone. Getting inside someones personal space with a knife hand and ranting at them with invectives and spittle is an art. It can be inspirational if done well.

He's not at fucking boot camp. He's at the mall, cursing and frothing in front of kids. He needs to be banned from public places if he can't behave in them.

QFT!

What could have really back fired is while he and his kid were belittling the guy in uniform some other PTSD vet gets confused and goes ape shit crazy on dad and son or even just a couple of non-military that takes the side of the guy in the BDUs.

He was approached to talk to the child, which he was trying to do.

Was it Thomas Custer who had two medal of honors?

Honestly, I always thought he was more bad ass than his egotistical brother.

lol, the dude seems pretty well prepared with his answers if he's just out to get a discount. I guess he does it often

OK...this sent me down a "false valor" youtube rabbit hole.

I had no idea people did this shit. What kind of coward would claim to have served their country when they haven't? I've never served and I still wanted to beat every single one of them to a pulp.

You should pull that Glock 19 out with the 30 rounds of +p you carry and put that under their chin.

You should explain to them what a bad ass you are.

Take your private jet to hunt them all down.
