Which businesses are those?

I've never heard of a place that offers a military discount but will not accept military ID w/o uniform.
That's insane if true.

I recently made a purchase at Footlocker, they had some program/website thing that I needed to sign up for and register blah blah blah, for a 20% discount, they wouldn't take ID's I think some employees were abusing it or something. Luckily somehow they have a database that I could key in my SSN on the debit card reader, and I popped up. Not sure how they would have access to something like that...kind of scary.

Was about to walk out of the store if it didn't work (20% off their already high priced shoes). But it did :p

For everyone that thinks this is OK to pose as a military member ( of any service ):
How many have served any time in the Military?
War Time?
Ever seen someone die?

I didn't think so.

The poser is a POS and should go to jail or at least receive an ass whipping.

hahaha This was like a Seinfeld bit. And lol at faking receiving a phone call to get out of the situation. I'm curious what would have happened if the accuser's woman didn't stop him from following the faker. Maybe his plan was to gradually walk faster and faster and then break into a full on sprint and hope to lose him in a crowd. hehe...or he should have pointed somewhere and said "theres my Sgt Major bitch!", and when the accuser turns his head then he takes off running. I don't think he had a plan though, just hoping the guy would go away...and he did! hahaha I think this is funnier in my head than it actually was, because I've mentally replaced the faker with George Constanza.

I just don't get why people feel the need to act like they're something they're not military wise. Anybody who fakes it has to know that they'll get called out on it. Hell, I did 17ish years in the Air Force and have been out for the last couple of years, but I can call out what's legit and what's not in a lot of the examples like this that I've seen...these guys make a lot pretty obvious. I guess they have some kind of mental issues for the most part...and I don't think embarrassing them in public is the answer. I feel sorry for these guys, they seriously need help.

Only watched the first minute because it looked like it was going to get painful, but the mannerisms of the dude, especially at the start, make me think he's a little mentally impaired in some way.
Seemed like a typical reaction when you have no good answers to questions. He was nervous and trying to make shit up on the spot. He had the mannerisms of a poor liar, nothing more.

couldn't watch the whole thing, too painful. pretending to be a ranger with 3 combat patches? dumbass might as well have claimed he was a medal of honor winner. if you want to pretend just to get military benefits, hell just pretend you're an E4 infantryman who never deployed.

2 coworkers and I recently had a meeting at a military facility. The E4 took our driver's license and scanned them. He came back and asked me if I had a retired military ID. He didn't ask the others and I am the only one of us that had served.
I am curious what's on a driver's license stripe.

When I see someone with a CIB with two stars (to the uninitiated that means the third award of the CIB) that individual has just emblazoned themselves as a target for the veteran community. They're a fucking chew toy.

A single award of the CIB is given for the era in which it was earned.

1st era: 7 December 1941 - 3 September 1945
2nd era: 27 June 1950 - 27 July 1953
3rd era: 2 March 1961 - 10 March 1995
4th era: 18 September 2011 to a date to be determined

The dude just assumed that the general population wouldn't realize that he's claiming to be a veteran of the Korean War. That he's claiming in front of God and everyone that he was recognized by his country for these awards. I can't think of an analogy as offensive to civilian population. Maybe think of him as some guy claiming to be formative of the civil rights movement with MLK. It's absurd on it's face. Now have Al Sharpton or someone from the New Black Panthers meet him. Words will be exchanged, at least.

The person conducting the ass chewing isn't an exception or an asshole. He's doing fine. I've seen worse from someone having their hands in their pocket or forgetting to salute an officer because they were on their cell phone. Getting inside someones personal space with a knife hand and ranting at them with invectives and spittle is an art. It can be inspirational if done well.

That badass military guy is squawking like a bitch over the way some tard is dressed. There is no war at the mall.

He probably bullies fat kids at the Star Wars convention questioning if they have earned the right to be Stormtroopers.

Did you really compare serving in the military to Star Wars fans? Are you retarded?

I don't get it.

Soldiers make a career choice and the uniform is part of that career.

If I am the greatest brain surgeon on the face of the earth I don't go screaming at someone walking through the mall because they are wearing surgical scrubs without having a medical license. If I am the greatest chemist in the world that found a way to turn lead into gold I won't scream at the hobo wearing a lab coat. It's just some cloth that the guy was wearing. Who cares?

No. I compared two different types of costumes and indicated that angry military guy could have his little tantrum when exposed to either.

Calm down. :)

There is no justification for pretending to be a military vet.

It's down right sickening on 2 fronts:
1) diminishing what that uniforms represents
2) getting off on pretending to be someone you are clearly not

Tried to serve. But apparently if you're ever diagnosed with Asthma you don't get a second chance, even if you can pass a test. It was a very depressing bit of news.

It's never been illegal to wear military or police uniforms directly (BDUs, Black/Blues, etc), what is illegal is wearing the following:
(1) All Army headgear, when worn with insignia.
(2) Badges and tabs (identification, marksmanship, combat, and special skill).
(3) Uniform buttons (U.S. Army or Corps of Engineers).
(4) Decorations, service medals, service and training ribbons, and other awards and their appurtenances.
(5) Insignia of any design or color that the Army has adopted.

People pretend who they are all the time.

Hell here no one is even honest about who they are.

Well, it is illegal to pose as a surgeon in public if you are not.

I don't think this same reaction would have been if someone was just wearing desert camo BDU's. BDU pants and military like boots are popular in many lines of work.

The problem is the insignia and combat badging.

Now, imagine if they watched fellow soldiers die in battle.
