So after all the farmers go bankrupt we buy our food from China?

Farming is one of those things I see as being fundamentally necessary, as I enjoy eating and there is a growing body of evidence that's it's good for your health.

Right here see what I mean

Second guy didn't seem so enthused to vote otherwise.

Summary which you likely already know, Farmers talking about how they were back stabbed by Trump but most appear to be ready to vote for him again.
Fuck these welfare queens.

I think allot of these folks are just dyed in the wool republicans. So were their daddies and their daddies daddies, etc. some things just don’t change.

I'm assuming you mean the "grow our own food" post? It's not an idea without merit, but would require radical changes in how our cities are structured. This will be an undertaking of many years, and overall a good idea.
The fundamental issue I see here is the us vs them mentality. You've decided the farmers are the enemy because they supported Trump, and you want to hurt them because of that.
Personally, I think the trade war with China was long overdue. We've sold ourselves out because of greed. We've ignored gross human rights violations because of greed. We will pay the price for that greed, and we will be hurt in the conflict. The bottom line is it had to happen, and it's never going to be cheaper or easier than it is today.

again, fundamentally misses the issue.

Trump puts farmers in this position
Trump welfares them a historic cash payout to buy their loyalty
they love Trump, even though he's wrecking their lives, demanding that essentially everyone but the few remaining farmers, and wealthy people of the country, pay for his bullshit trade war

it's just more class warfare populism, the actual victims completely oblivious to their role in the mess.

meanwhile, whenever the government props up industries that employ vastly more people, and lose exactly zero taxpayer money over it, bitchy GOP welfare queens screen and bitch about socialism.

Regarding food I’m saying we would buy it from somewhere else. No way the NE is going to starve because mid west farmers stop producing.
Regarding trade I agree it’s time to be tough with China, problem I have is currently there appears to be no strategy, no plan and no way to judge success plus there appears to be little planning or organization regarding trade.
Now back to these dumb-dumbs in the video, they complain that all of their profit has been removed, complain that finances are tight but yet they are willing to do the same thing again.
I got particularly pissed off when I saw some farmer dude talking about the tax cuts that are partially funded by the property tax deduction change for dudes like me. My home value is under the 10k tax write off max but it won’t be years from now. Essentially these guys are saying fuck you to me while simultaneously taking federal handouts. They have zero concerns for me, why should I have concern for them.

This fact needs to be made into a Dem political ad against cheeto.
The fact that his failed trade tariff policy has resulted in these numbers
Dems need to pound these irrefutable facts over the TV airwaves.

Yes, the cut to the 700k people for foodstamps saves approx 5B over 5 years, so a billion per year.
Yeah, so lets give farmers and large agribusinesses, 14B a year, each, over the last 2 years and starve 700K of our community to save 1B a year.
gop math FTMF win.
Before those tv ads go out we have to eliminate any Dem candidate that is in favor of doing something to restore democracy to average people. We can't have any threats to the wealthy. We don't need any women applying either.

We just need to get people to vote. The turnout rate is only about 60%. America is actually a lot more liberal than what our current govt represents. If this disaster of Trump as President doesn't bring them to the polls I don't know what will.

Yeah! Fuck them for not being able to detect the future of who will support them the best!

This is simply the problem with our politics in general.

If you can promise magic genies, balloons, and money... Yeah, people will vote for you.... Just look at Andrew Yang ;)

Meanwhile they are proposing cutting 700K people off food assistance in a move that would save just a fraction of the $28B so far given to farmers.

Fun fact: The bailout of farmers has now cost more than double the money than the bailout of the auto makers ultimately cost during the 2008-2009 collapse.
This is the real outrage.

Grocery stores regularly throw away canned goods which are moving toward their expiration date. Expiration dates are mandated by FDA, but this practice is followed for the retail sale of food -- not for its consumption. These are the "best by MM/DD/YY" dates. They aren't supposed to SELL the product beyond those dates. Often, the food either ends up in a dumpster, or gets sold to the "99-cent Store" to be sold at a fraction of its original value.

There is all sorts of surplus food in this country which is merely wasted or destroyed.

And yet that criminal in the White House and his minions are attempting to cut off food stamps to 700,000 people.

In an incident which inspired a thread here within the last couple years, a young unemployed man and his pre-school son went into a grocery store to buy food with food stamps. They were ridiculed and cursed by a woman at the counter, whose job it was to process food-stamps as well as cash when they were presented. Her mean-spirited views should've been occasion for her dismissal, although I know not what subsequently happened. But -- I think -- I seem to recall -- that a cell-phone video had captured the incident. This is not how children should be treated. They shouldn't see their parents ridiculed for using public assistance. And the father of the child most likely had good justification for receiving food stamps.

If people want to be proud of America, considering how low it has fallen in the estimation of the world since Trump's inauguration, there are plenty of reasons to see "Exceptionalism" as a myth and a hollow boast. A country is only as great as its lowest common denominator, and someone's need for a food stamp subsidy does not detract from "greatness". Instead, people more likely in the Trump camp and people like the cashier in the grocery store offer plenty of justification to feel ashamed.

Please. 62M Americans forgot how to spot a con man when they voted for Trump. Or maybe they didn't care. I figure they arrived at that point through decades of relentless GOP propaganda. They had to be in an irrational state of mind to even consider voting for Trump. It has to be even worse to do it again. It's a disgrace.

I got banned in r/politics on reddit for writing about my indifference towards the fact that there was another farmer that committed suicide. He and his wife voted for Republicans all their lives and she is planning on voting for her God-Emporer again. All I said was that their voting led to the situation that drove him to do this and I refuse to feel bad for them. Somehow these people are such snowflakes that they can't handle indifference when they end up paying the price for the way that they choose to vote, but I have to deal with death threats, being called a baby-killing commie pig because I want to give them the best quality healthcare, education, and infrastructure that this country can provide.

Presently they are being fucked over by the Trump administration, if they think more of the same is what will support them the best as you suggest, hopefully they get what they vote for. As for promising things, well I for one would like some of the tax money I pay in to go for more than just corporate welfare and tax cuts for the uber rich.

I, for one, welcome the socialist farmers into an American future that spreads the pie at the top around a little bit. The plebes continue to get crumbs

Quoting to highlight a wonderful facet of this administration. The automaker bailout was considered to be a really, really big deal. We've barely heard a peep about the agri bailout due to the whirlwind of domestic news.
It also shows how Republicans in Congress have absolutely abandoned normal process/flow and just push what they want through in a couple days so no one can really protest it.

do you understand that your assertion here gains meaning only when enough people vote for Andrew Yang?

Let's see how that works out, ok? lol

Urban people need to grow their own meats and food. You know be more self reliant.

Tell them that and they'll probably ask what Fox Noise supplied rock you've been living under most of your life.

You were saying?

Urban gardening is increasingly popular in a multitude of American cities, coast to coast. Roof top gardening in particular, been shown to help address the "hot spot" effect in concrete expanses. My home town of Detroit now has large areas of thriving businesses intermixed with flower and food producing gardens, where once there was only abandoned squalor, trash and graffiti. Detroit's not out of the woods yet, but you should check that scene out, give it a good read. Who knows, maybe you'll come away a little more informed about self-reliance. Or food, or history, or gardening, or immigration..

nothing like a roof top dairy or pig farm to keep you fed during the winter.
