I suppose looks comes down to a matter of personal preference, but I just figured I'd throw that out there.

Also, Don't run maxmum quality textures unless you don't mind swapping or have a 512mb card. The maxumum quality textures option can easly push things over 256mb of video ram.

I tried it at 10x7 without AA and med detail. I got 40fps avg. Minumum fps was still unacceptable. Quite a few times the game would slow down to less than 10fps. Running the game at 800x600, I would average 85fps. The game would still occasionally stutter, but not as often. Dropping down to 640x480 I would still get occasional stuttering! At this point, the game looked so blocky that, its not enjoyable to look at.

To summarize, this game has great potential if the bugs can be sorted out before release. For a 6800gt to not run the game at even 10x7 w/o aa is totally unacceptable.

nitromullet, from the title menu to the texture quality setting and such is:

options > perfromace > avanced video card options > grapics

As long as you don't mess with the "basic video options" it won't mess up your resolution setting.

I tried the game on medium settings 10x7, 4xAA, 8xAF. Shadows were on, volumetric lights on, soft shadows off. Ran fraps and got 52fps avg, 32 min, 90 max, and that's on an oc'd x800. Seems pretty playable to me.

I just gave it a shot. Seems fun. Graphics are on par with HL2 including NPC faces IMO. However while I was playing the cops showed up because they had a report of an assualt Apparently my Asus 9600XT and P4 3.2E felt they had been abused! At on 800xx600x32 at that! ;)

Seriously? Cops showing up is a real possibility for me, given my neighborhood. And my neighbors are always wondering WTF is going on in my apartment. (When I'm gaming. and sometimes when I'm not) :)

Yeh the fear factor with this game was diminished when I kept turning the volume down , I didn't want to freak out the neighbors ...

Get a good set of headphones.

Strange it played better on my 3200XP and 9800pro... and I was playing at 1280x960 at medium

I don't think so... my results are on par with everyone else's averages. The thing about fraps is the results really depend on where you start and stop the benchmark. I started my benchmarks usually on spots with lots of action, so my min frames were lower.

Edit: Crap it looks like the summer heat was making my card throttle. I turned on the air and my scores got better. :p

Benchmarked the whole demo from the begining of the mission, where I get dropped off in the car, to the end of the misson where that big robot drops down and launches missiles. I got avg 60fps @10x7 with 4xaa and 8af.

No I was just joking. I actually live in a nice neighborhood. But that game did rape my GPU!:(

I played the first bit on my 9700pro at 1024 x 768, no aa or af settings at medium and no problems at all. I was expecting a slide show?

Some people just like to turn every option up all the way and then complain that developers can't code.

Played it on the GF's 30" widescreen TV with the receiver thumpin' out surround sound, excellent stuff :D Especially since I had a 6800GT/A64 in that box and only ran it at 1116*640 (over scan corrected resolution) and I love the fact that you can set the resolution in a text file, so many games you can't and that makes this DVI->TV->awesome setup about worthless due to the nasty overscan completely taking away the HUD or having a non-displayabel resolution in the menus. For what its worth, the 6800GT was a lot smoother with an incredible amount of detail, but still some small hitching here and there.

Is anyone interested in GF4 DX8 Performance? If so, I might be persuaded into running through it again with my celeron mobile 2.66/GF4Ti4200 @ 310/575 rig...
