The demo for this hotly-anticipated, graphically-demanding game will be out in only a matter of hours (NOON Eastern). I encourage all to download it and see how well it plays.

From what Ive read, F.E.A.R. would barely run playable average frames on a high end system with 7800GTX, even on medium/low settings. I will be anxious to see if my system will be able to play it on high settings.

The beta was closed, then it went public. I guess it's off and on. Sometimes they hand out keys to anyone who signs up, and other times its for Fileplanet subscribers. You can also get a key by pre-ordering the game.

Ah well. I've been looking forward to this game for over a year now since I saw the screenshot with the sniper rifle in it. It looks awesome. However, I saw a video of the gameplay awhile back and wasn't really *that* impressed with it.
Also, I will not be surprised if it performs better on ATI cards, since it seemed to be kind of HL2-ish. Though, I'm not trying to start a flame or anything just from what I could tell on the video it seemed that way. All that can really tell are the true benchies. :D

Woudlnt your rig in sig cost $50+ a day to cool?

Edit: not to mention constant refilling?

Maybe he only turns it on when new benchmarks come out. ;)

will this game require you to have 2gb to run it smoothly? I've been contemplating on upgrading to 2gb lately.

It was even a little rough on a pair of 7800's (but I maxed everything out). And yeah, there weren't many populated servers, and even when there were, the pings weren't all that great, either.

Just to let everyone know, I get ~30fps (slight stuttering, still very very playable, firefights still run good) on medium high settings at 10x7 with no AA/AF.

Great demo, by the way. Can't wait for the game! :D

Yes it does cost a lot to run it constantly, thats why I havent been able to really push it above 3.2ghz atm. I am working on a different liquid system right now, but I cant afford everything I want. What I would like to know is what other kind of liquid I could use that wouldnt cost an arm and a leg and works as good as dry ice. Im considering cooled water but thats a pain in the ass to insulate, then again my custom setup is a pain in the ass when it breaks and theres no replacement parts.

I have another system that runs on a 3200 venice @ 2.8ghz on a Zalman CNPS7700cu and a 9800XT on a MSI Nforce 3, which is my gaming machine. This is where my money goes if theres a AGP version of the next gen cards, otherwise Ill wait for the M2 and see if its any better.

Considering dry ice isnt a liquid, im gonna have to call BS.

Edit: To answer your question though, Condensor systems and custom cascade are what youre looking for.

ok Ive tested it and got roughly 30 frames average with 4aa/8af at 12x10 on medium but not playable by my standards, still too many slow downs (not the intentional ones). Low fps were about 4-6 and highers were in the 50s.

17 frames average at 8aa/16af at 12x10 on medium
42 frames average at 4aa/8af at 10x7 on medium

havent gotten to low or high qualities yet, have to go to work.

The Demo is awesome. I played it at all settings MAX w/ 4xAA and 8xAF (from in-game settings) @ 1024x768 with this system:

Dell Dimension 8300, 1GB PC3200, P4 2.8C, eVGA 6800GT (nothing OC'd--I'm afraid of damaging the 305W Dell PSU, which is working fine ATM)

The game loaded fast (under 15 sec) with no stuttering or slowdown. The small enclosed environments makes this game easier on the hardware than I anticipated.

I've got 41 more minutes left going @ 61kb/s...

I've heard the demo is small and the AI is amazing...
