You people are forgetting a VERY important note.

That is, you are talking about the bible only, but there ARE other religions. According to genesis, god created the earth and everything in it in six days. Now, we know that's absurd, but what about other religions. I am not familiar with the Koran (I am supposed to be christian), but I am quite sure that it DOESN'T say "The christian god created the earth and everything on it in six days. Allah is just some guy that came later on".

The fact is every major religion has its own view on how things god started and who controls them, so which one is right? According to me, they are all BS.

<<<God does love and forgive, however, He is also punishes and pours out His wrath against the sinners. So do not mistake and believe one side only. >>>

If there is anyone to be punished, it is God himself. This "omnipotent" being created us knowing that we would do everything that we do. Come judgment day, the only thing to blame for our sins is "the man" himself...

Pyro, I think it would surprise you who how many major religions have the same origins, judaism, christianity, islam.

I don't think anybody is in the place to judge God. You don't see His methods as sound, but from the divine perspective, they are perfectly just and logical.

We should punish God, eh? Alrighty, band together and start punishing God. It just doesn't work, huh... The system seems to work the other way around. This is no democracy, there is a King🙂

think of it this way.....
it was translated from armaic, syriac, and greek to hebrew and latin and then latin to enlgish...and from old english to modern english

it was translated SOOOO may times its for sure lost its meaning

not to mention it wasn't written until 300 friggin years after jebus died soo how accurate could that be....
let me use my king arthur example....

King arthur was actually named arturus(sp) about 500 years ago....
he defeated the saxons and then they came back later and killed him....
after 500 years it turned into a magical king with powers and an old magical crazy man.....

now hte bible was passed down by mouth 300 years come on it had to have been change so friggin much

tell someone to rember just 1/10th of the new testament for 20-40 years then tell it to someone and have them repeat that for about 7-10 times.....your not gona get anything close to the original

This is why religion vs. atheism threads simply don't work. It's hard to explain why the other is silly in a global sense. You can try to explain to athiests how we're evil and wrong, but while you're doing it you're still talking all that god BS. Athiests can try to explain how religious types are foolish, but we really have no argument against faith. So why don't we all give up, go get a drink, and get back to some quality OT neffing 😉

another thing i must point out.....
"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing, all-powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes."
..........Gene Roddenberry

god is omnipotent supposedly so he would know what is going to happen when he creates people....so he is doing exactly that ....punishing people for his mistake

Pyro, the God Allah in Islam is essentially the same God as our God in christianity. the difference between islam and Christianity is that they don't believe Jesus was the way, they just believe that he was a great teacher. nothing more nothing less.

biggie- yet chrisitans still believe that jews are going to hell....

pretender- actually i can shoot down a number of christian theory's on god and how the world came into exsitence

such as the 2nd law of thermodynamics...some chrisitans use it as saying the earth couldn't come into being b/c you can't have order from disorder.....well then god is more complex than earth so how did he come into being?.....he couldn't have just appeared so then the only other way to explain it is god had a creator....and that just doesn't work....

(note most of my material is from sites and from debating wit christians at my school)

lowfatbaconboy: Please do not speak for Christians. I have never said or believed for a second because somebody is different than me in their beliefs, that they will go to hell. For me to judge is against my religion, and against what I feel in my heart.

Pretender: You are absolutely right, no good ever comes of these threads. Unless you consider bitching and name calling a good thing. 😉

neither are the saved. so u got your pick. become a Jew or become a Christian. i don't think you can be a Jew without being born from a Jew.

Not in any Bible I read, but don't forget, there are hundreds of versions of it now. Just don't lump us all together. 😉

There are over 5000 manuscripts of the New Testament alone, earliest dating to a little after 100AD. These scripts are translated directly to English from Greek.

<< think of it this way.....

Not true. The english translation comes from manuscripts written in greek, aramaic and latin. It wasn't just translated time after time.

the bible is not an autobiography/biography. apparently no one felt that whatever jesus did in that time was worth a lick of their time to follow and chronicle his life during that time. the bible is a book of stories that some people were compelled to write.

It isn't recorded. What happened during Alexander the Great's childhood, Homer's, Augustus Caeser's?? Does it matter? I'm sure Jesus was a responsible young man. His ministry began 3 years before his death. Did a bunch in 3 years, no? Hmmm, points to something!

you can believe whatever you want. convincing the unbelieving to believe is the hardest thing to do. good thing it is not the job of Christians to do that. i hate it when i hear christians say that i convert such and such amount of people. it is God's doing. God converts people. no way is it our job as Christians to be missionaries or be preachers. our job as christians is to simply believe and accept jesus as our lord and savior. no where does it say our job as christians is to go out and convert X amount of people to christianity, read and recite X amount of passages/verses, and to serve in X amount of charity events.

That's what you were taught in school? You know what else you were taught in school? Ancient History, with sources that don't date within ONE THOUSAND YEARS of the original events. The Bible is an EXCELLENT source based on historicity.

the bible is the most historically accurate document to date. it survived time in its entirety. the bible is more accurate than Homer's writings.
