1) It is pretty easy to directly build genes now. No longer do you have to do the repeated exposure to different drugs like the OP mentions. Of course, genetic engineering is still intentional. But mutations like this could happen naturally too.

2) I don't quite follow the conspiracy theory link. Duder1no could you please finish. Especially where you tie in Pharma. E. coli isn't normally treated with antibiotics since that would cause an increase in the release of the shiga toxin. The normal treatment is to flush it out with water and wait. So could you please tell me how pharma profits from this water flushing? I could see you saying it is due to PepsiCo since they profit from bottled drinks. But, I'm confused with the pharma link.

By the by, don't bother, because that's a logic fail. Religion / Spirituality / God is about belief. There is no scientific evidence to either prove or disprove belief or morals.

OP says e.coli is a superbug engineered to produce human fatalities, but then offers up an article with some drivel but no actual evidence of anything.

Sure, if someone tries to convince you to join in their belief, then by all means you can require whatever proof you want. Otherwise, it seems rather silly to be talking about proof when it comes to religion and belief.

Religious beliefs are at the center of many public policy decisions locally and nationally, so proselytizing need not be involved for the burden of proof to be relevant.
 
There's a lot wrong with that article.

1. Bacteria frequently interchange DNA via plasmids. This is a well recognised natural process, and can result in DNA from one strain to another, or even one species to another.

2. ESBL is an important factor. However, if a bacterium captures an ESBL gene from a plasmid, then that single gene potentially confers resistance to 5 of the 8 classes of antibiotic described in the article. ESBLs while relatively uncommon, are nevertheless a significant problem in hospitals, and most hospitals will have detailed policies for dealing with such infections.

I gave up reading after the 1st section - the article just degenerated into insane tinfoil gibbering after that.

2) The over use of Anti-Biotics in Agriculture

There's no need for a Laboratory to cause resistant bacteria.
 
Any links to articles from actual real news stories? I am not reading OP on something so outrageous unless some other news org is willing to put their neck on the line.

Bio-engineered? Maybe, maybe not. By whom? Attribution requires one conjecture upon another with nothing more than paranoia in support.
