1) It is pretty easy to directly build genes now. No longer do you have to do the repeated exposure to different drugs like the OP mentions. Of course, genetic engineering is still intentional. But mutations like this could happen naturally too.
2) I don't quite follow the conspiracy theory link. Duder1no could you please finish. Especially where you tie in Pharma. E. coli isn't normally treated with antibiotics since that would cause an increase in the release of the shiga toxin. The normal treatment is to flush it out with water and wait. So could you please tell me how pharma profits from this water flushing? I could see you saying it is due to PepsiCo since they profit from bottled drinks. But, I'm confused with the pharma link.
