Mass Effect 2 is the most recent one. I've tried, but I just can't get into it and every time start the game it feels more like work than playing a game.

KT

UGH... I am many hours into the game.......And LOVED ME1. I finished it in record time for me and could not wait to get into ME2.
I got your felling just last night.

Yeah, it feels likea chore and I have tried repeatedly to get into it. I'm a HUGE fan of the first game, so I may just give that one another run through instead.

I'm going to add Metro 2033 to my pile. Bought it on a whim on one of the many steam sales, and I just can't get into it. I only put a couple hours into it but I just don't care. I feel like I'm pretty much FPSed out, as I can't seem to get into many shooters lately. It just doesn't have enough special to get me to play it and I didn't pay enough for it to try any more.

In the end, it puts me in the same emotional state that the original campaign of NWN 2 did: This is work, not fun.

Neverwinter Nights 2 - 10 hours in, this is not a fun game.

Have you tried playing as a Bard with the Natural Leader background trait? +4 AB on Khelgar from level 4 tends to make things easier. (+1 Inspire Courage, +1 Natural Leader, +2 Heroism.)
At level 16 the Bard gives effectively + 11AB to allies, +10 to himself, with +3 damage all around. +13/12AB with Greater Heroism, as long as you keep the extra hitpoints granted.

Bards make fine front-liners. Tumble is a class skill, so they level in AC (+1 every 10 ranks) and pretty quickly become immune to attacks of opportunity. Use Magical Device means they can use some nice Monk boots. Medium BAB is partly offset by their inspiration. Ding a level of Fighter early and you're wearing Full Plate and wielding a greatsword for most of the campaign. Can even use Mithral Full Plate w/o casting failure with the Battle Caster feat.

There are more powerful solo characters, but the Bard makes for one helluva party.

(Another thing that makes quite a difference is to swap out Elanee's badger for a boar. The AI on the badger is RETARDED, and the stupid thing only does 1d2 damage, 1d2+2 at level 20. Boar does 1d8+2 to start, maxing at +5)

Put me down for Portal. Played like the first 20 or so levels and then said....screw it.

But at least Valve/Steam gave me Portal for free so all I wasted was time and not $$$.

And truth be told, I deleted all my Steam games from my hard drive two nights ago (dealing with some game issues and I thought a reinstall of the games/Steam would help).

But yeah, Portal just sat there. And sat there. And sat there.......

Hearts of Iron 3.

Loved HoI2, but 3 was so buggy and 'unfun' compared to 2. That was a waste of $$$.

Bioshock 2 - Bought it on a whim, during a Steam deal. Got about 2 hours into it and it just doesn't keep my attention.

Mine would be Quake 4. I upgraded to Win7 when it first came out, and installed Quake 4 again and decided to play through it again. I played it for about 3 days and then never touched it again.

Street Fighter 4

Couldn't beat the boss at normal settings, tried internetplay laggy as hell, lost interest within 1.5h time, waste of 5$ .

Planescape: Torment

Exactly.
Way too much poorly written dialog in that one. If I want to do that much reading, I'd much rather pick up a good book instead.

Still sitting on my hard drive, but will eventuallly get flushed away when I upgrade my computer.

FarCry 2

I keep telling myself that I'll load it up and go do some crazy stuff and just explore, but I've hardly touched the game, I found the respawning to absolutely kill it for me.

me too, then i cheated to get unlimited ammo/no weapon wear. Now its kinda fun :)

Whoever programmed that damn respawn rate should be shot.

Yikes! this one's a steamer. Actually broke the disc in half about a month ago. It's still stinking up my HD.

I think I mind the weapon wear rate more. Respawning starts bothering especially when the damn weapon explodes in your hands. The AS-50 is literally messed up after a mission or so, I'm always keeping a spare at the safe house just to reach safely back to the main city.

List of Steam games I purchased, that I ended up regretting:

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box (don't know why I though this game would be fun)
Gratuitous Space Battles (played it once, never really got the hang of it)
Prison Tycoon 3: Lockdown (it was awful, hated it)
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (nice to play the campaign, didn't really like the multiplayer)

STALKER COP - everything is has in beautiful scenery it lacks in gameplay. The story feels weak and trivial.

I have a bunch of them.

- Bioshock. This one looks cool, and some neat ideas, but I just dont care for it.

- Crysis. Again, the suit is cool for an FPS, and I enjoyed it more than any FPS game Ive ever tried but when I got into the alien lair, everything looked exactly the same, I got lost, frustrated, and didnt care enough to find a guide to get through it.

I dont like FPS games. One day I will learn my lesson and stop buying them but when one is hyped enough it seems I eventually try it.

- The Witcher. I actually thought this was going to be right up my alley. Bad acting, wooden characters, etc. Just leaves me feeling "meh".

- Batman, AA. I HATE the way off-center view. Cant stand it. It was a game-breaker for me.

- Perpetuum. I thought I'd enjoy this one, but I went for the trial thinking I would subscribe and got bored very quickly.

On my old laptop... Spore
On my new laptop... Civ 5 and Starcraft 2.

Those are the most recent buyer's remorse games I have.

Civ 5. They never bothered to put any effort into multiplayer. You still can't save a multiplayer game...
