I'm done posting in this thread, I don't believe I need to defend/explain myself anymore.

Jesus Christ...how are you going to defend cops so valiantly like this?? I lived in Indiana, in a town of 345 people....not only that, but the closest "city" to me had 20K people. You better believe alot of the run ins were with the same fvcking departments. Only after the "cuffing" incident did everything stop, and that is due to the police officer being discipline.

This is the SAME police department that had a cruiser get in an accident with a high school kid, only for the commanding officer to find 7 pounds of marijuana in the cops trunk. He said it was to "train his K9"....BULLSH!T. It so happens that the accident was the fault of the high school kid, but somehow, all charges were dropped, hmmmmmm....someone covering there asses? Sometimes small police departments are more fvcking corrupt that the NYPD.

See, was it that hard to admit that it was from a small town with a corrupt department? That's all you really had to say from the start. Instead, you blew it up like it was some major city cop crime wave.

That sounds pretty tame compared the fake drug scandals of Dallas, and the trigger happy blast fest of Los Angeles. The reality is that that small Indiana department is in better shape than most.

Given the size of the departments being compared, I disagree. LA probably has about 20-25k cops, Dallas probably around 15k, NYPD is 40k+. The smaller towns with 3-4 officers NEED the better cops. Even the slightest corruption can bring the whole department down. Hell, 1 cop is 25% of your department...they can't afford it.

One out of four people you pull off the street is going to be an honorless, sneaky, theiving sleeze. Then factor in that police positions usually attract bullies and thugs. Odds are, quite a few cops are going to be less than stellar, and so MOST departments are "brought down."

I had a bad run-in with a chick cop. Little b!tch was like Cartman come alive: 'respect my authorita'. I was glad her partner was male and had more common sense than she did.
All other cops I had to deal with were ok.

you guys are all homebred nerds whose image of cops is those doing all you white folk a duty by arresting the troublesome black man on cops... get out of the house, interact with society, you'll find many of them really are assholes and have that job because of that.

I am sure there are plenty out there that act like that. It really is a shame. I really wish that more people would actually try to get to know some cops. They have plenty of stories and a really different outlook on things than the rest of us.

I know this one guy that was really high up in a really big police department. He is retired now. The thing is, when you talked to this guy he seemed like your average Joe. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him for it. Whenever he talked about his job, he would only talk about the good parts.

Police departments are just like any other job, there are assholes and good guys. I guess I am just lucky that I know a lot of the good guys.

And I guess you're a stereotypical person who thinks "The Man" has it in for him, and is doing everything they can to hamper you. Way to let your hate blind you.

That was probably the dumbest post I have ever read. What about black cops? Are they out to get the black folk too?

I gave a cop a Pepsi on Sunday. He was directing traffic in full dress in the direct sun. It was about 90 degrees out and the humidity made you wheeze.
I picked up the Pepsi when I dropped my kids off and stopped and handed it to him on the way through.
He told me he owes me one. :(The mumfvcker dui'd me about 10 years ago)

LMAO...if a cop says he owes you one, he will make good if he can. We give all cops things at our cost. I don't care if its a $4000 plasma, he will pay whatever we do for it. In return they come with 1 or 2 minutes of us calling them. They also tend to let us off with warnings when they pull us over. The last one that pulled me over laughed when he walked up to my window and told me to get to work. :p

Police officers are allright. They are just doing thier job. Sure, some abuse the "power." Most that I know are just average folks making a living.

The cop was really cool and we just kind of chatted for a while. He was telling me about some random stuff that he had been called to and stuff like that.

I know a lot of people here dislike the police, so I just thought I would post and remind everyone that cops are actually humans too. Though sometimes they do have to be asshole.

My friends and I were doing some late night fishing around 2am the other night at a lake that is "closed" after dark. Well, a cop sneaks up on us, looks at the water where we are fishing, see's that we are shining our lights in the water......so he then shines his bright police light in there and he says " god damn, you need a net up in this b!tch!"

Hahahaha, we then had some small talk with him and he finally left and said "you guys have fun."

Yeah.. the two most recent conversations I've had with police:
(paraphrased)
1. I got pulled over for running a stop sign that DOES NOT EXIST. When the cop realized this he let me go with no citation. He then pulled me over 1 block later for an equipment violation. (i had corner markers that were slightly off color.) total dick move.

2. I was at a payphone and there was an officer standing next to it. I asked him if he could break a dollar for 4 quarters. He did. He then told me to use the change to do my laundry. :(

assholes.

Eh, I got a speeding ticket for using my grandpa's car, which the speedmeter doesn't work in, and there was no traffic to follow.

First time I've ever been pulled over and the guy gives me a freaking ticket...so yeah, I'm not exactly happy with cops right now.

I think our bad experiences with cops somehow severely make us judge them as a whole. When I went in to pay my ticket I met a really funny one, heh.

Our store got nailed last night for like $1k of merchandise, we left a newer employee by himself for the last two hours of the night hoping he could handle it, obviously that was a mistake. Cop came by today to fill out a report and whatnot, talked with us for a bit, told us all of the stuff going on around town. Very nice guy, I see him now and then out of the store.

I had a nice long chat with a state trooper when he pulled me over and I had been drinking. I passed all the tests, blew less then a 0.08.
So we talked about paintball for about 20 mins then I went on my way.

i've met some good cops, i've found that when they have no buisness with you tends to be when they are most polite/socialable.

I think it might make their jobs harder that they have to pull us over to give us a ticket, and we're more then likely giving them lip about it. i'm sure at some point they just act like a dick just to avoid being crapped all over.

I understand the people who have been "unfairly" treated by cops have a reason to be upset, but people like you who blatently disobeyed the law have no reason to be unhappy with the cops. No one forced you to break the law. Don't get mad b/c you got caught.

99% of the time, if you act extremely polite and courteous with the officer, you will have a plesant experience. 99% of the time, when you act rude or confrontational, you will have a bad experience. This goes for anyone you confront. Suck it up and put on your happy face, especially when you know you were technically wrong ("I was going ONLY 5 mph over the limit ... why the ticket?")

its sad really because anytime i meet a decent, professional, and polite cop I'm shocked. I totally don't expect it. 90% of the cops here suck really bad. APD only really does 2 things: 1. writing traffic tickets and 2. shoot unarmed minorities. and they're police union is the worst. their demands for a huge pay hike made it so that all other city workers don't get one. they are the highest paid cops in the state, more so than even dallas and houston. their union also successfully killed the civilian oversight committee that was supposed to keep the cops in line.
