I avoid BB like the plague. They have turned down every misprint, don't bother trying to find cheap stuff there. I either go to Zipzoom, eBay or the egg.

I used over $200 in BBB no problems. The only person that was pissed was the cashier having to deal with all the coupons.

F^CK BBY! Drove all the way out there the other night to get the battlefield 2 expansion to see it not on the shelf. Of course no one is near to offer any help. You should definitely go to the BBB for this.

Went there with wife and baby to spend $109 in Best Buy Bucks (BBB) from the McD promo. Picked up a Vonage box and COD2, then headed to checkout. Upon checkout, one of the managers asked for my ID, then went to the back to photocopy it, since they request identification if one is redeeming more than $75 BBB.

After 5-10mins have passed, I'm starting to get impatient. The cashier was brand new, so he didn't know what's happening. After a few more minutes, the same manager came out with a Loss Prevention guy, asking me how I came across so many BBB. I explained that one can get BBB by mailing a SASE to McD. He seemed surprised by this, then asked if I was planning to redeem more ("No" was my answer).

They leave for a few more minutes and by this time, about 25mins has passed. I was chatting with the cashier about black friday, then turned around to see a couple cops asking for me, who then took me outside to talk. Apparently, the manager called the cops because he thought my ID was fake. Cops looked at it, then determined that it was real...attributed the incident to the fear of identity theft.

After the cops left, we waited for another 10mins until the manager came back and implied that I was committing fraud; his words were "I don't know what's happening here, but I know that you have 10 orders online. I'm going to let it go this time, and I'm going to email corporate and the other stores, so that you don't do this again." He then approved the transaction and I was out the door promptly. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name.

What angered me was the amount of time it took to checkout; by the time we left, we were there for almost an hour. Nobody assured us that they're working as fast as they can or performed any customer service to alleviate the mood. Anyway, I figured out that they did a search using my address to see if there was any orders being shipped to my address. Since my brother also lives at that address and he resells stuff on ebay, there would be a number of orders from various stores, including Best Buy.

Does anyone have the link to the online complaint form to Best Buy corporate?

I believe an ID presented for identification purposes cannot be used to then do more research on the individual, run credit, etc.

That manager went way beyond bounds and you do have a legitimate case against him if pursued.

Call a local TV station that's got a news segment like "7 Helps" or something like that.

Corporate will be giving this asshat a raise, BB hates hot dealers, and will go to great lengths to make your life miserable.

Good day for me=killer price match at BB, I refuse to buy anything full price there.

QFT!!

I worked at Staples for a year or so and we were NOT allowed to run background checks on people, and especially not without them knowing. That manager violated many many laws and policies and you could easily get a case against them based on that alone. They are not allowed to use your SS# to track you in any way. NO one is unless you give them authorization.

If it was me, I'd be on the phone with my lawyer now and would have reported them to the BBB long ago.

I'd go back and shoot the manager in the face and then when the pigs show up, shoot them in the face. Little Naziwannabes must be stopped before they get too strong. Kill. Kill. Kill.

Edit: Hypothecically speaking of course.

Is there a limit on how many you can use at one time? I thought there was?

lol how am i a troll. because i think your whining about nothing. your getting something free, i don't feel bad if they made u jump through hoops. if you were purchasing it with a credit card or something then, i'd agree they were way out of line. but as it stands i don't feel bad for the OP

no he didn't. read the OP, all he did was mail in letters and got the coupons free.

In which case he paid for postage, 2 37 cent stamps per BBB, so 74 cents each. Not counting the time invested in sending away for all those, or the cost of envelopes.

You are a troll, and a dense one at that. He was treated like a criminal at a store, had the cops called on him, and then when proven wrong, the management still treated him like a criminal. Jumping through hoops would be filling out extra paperwork, not having police show up.

lol you have 102 posts and your calling me a troll. so what if the cops were called on him, how is that illegal. that is perfectly within the rights of the store management if they believe someone has committed a crime, and have 100+ in mc'd bucks is alittle out of the ordinary. so the manager was suspicious, i would be too, but he still got his product and went on him merry way. there could have been alittle better customer service defininately, but from a numbers stand point, the store was making -$109 from him so why devote more labor and energy on someone that is costing you money, further losing money.

FYI: I know that other people have redeemed way more BBB at that store than I did and they got treated like VIP. Secondly, there's a cost to getting those BBB, as kyzen stated. stamps + labor. Finally, Best Buy is getting reimbursed by McD for the BBB redeemed, so there's no loss to them.
