11/23 9pm @ Best Buy Folsom, CA
Went there with wife and baby to spend $109 in Best Buy Bucks (BBB) from the McD promo. Picked up a Vonage box and COD2, then headed to checkout. Upon checkout, one of the managers asked for my ID, then went to the back to photocopy it, since they request identification if one is redeeming more than $75 BBB.

After 5-10mins have passed, I'm starting to get impatient. The cashier was brand new, so he didn't know what's happening. After a few more minutes, the same manager came out with a Loss Prevention guy, asking me how I came across so many BBB. I explained that one can get BBB by mailing a SASE to McD. He seemed surprised by this, then asked if I was planning to redeem more ("No" was my answer).

They leave for a few more minutes and by this time, about 25mins has passed. I was chatting with the cashier about black friday, then turned around to see a couple cops asking for me, who then took me outside to talk. Apparently, the manager called the cops because he thought my ID was fake. Cops looked at it, then determined that it was real...attributed the incident to the fear of identity theft.

After the cops left, we waited for another 10mins until the manager came back and implied that I was committing fraud; his words were "I don't know what's happening here, but I know that you have 10 orders online. I'm going to let it go this time, and I'm going to email corporate and the other stores, so that you don't do this again." He then approved the transaction and I was out the door promptly. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name.

What angered me was the amount of time it took to checkout; by the time we left, we were there for almost an hour. Nobody assured us that they're working as fast as they can or performed any customer service to alleviate the mood. Anyway, I figured out that they did a search using my address to see if there was any orders being shipped to my address. Since my brother also lives at that address and he resells stuff on ebay, there would be a number of orders from various stores, including Best Buy.

Does anyone have the link to the online complaint form to Best Buy corporate?

I doubt you'll get anywhere with corporate since thats where they get the instruction to be assholes from. Do what I did and stop going there and tell your family and friends about your story so they don't go there either.

Hi, I'm best buy. Here's an opportunity for you to save money, whose rules and regulations were created by me and you are adhereing too...but don't take advantage of it because I'll hassle you and then call the police on you. Why are we offering it then? Hey come take a look at this plasma TV over here that you didn't want...

Yeah.. right there on the stop start talking to all the customers how the manager just treated you like a thief... etc etc...

I remember the story about the guy that paid with 2 dollar bills only and got similar treatment.

Hmmm...I don't see how your brother makes any money selling stuff he bought at best buy on ebay when almost all their stuff are sold at retail prices.

but they have to pretend like they care, so if the OP complains to corporate, then he may get some headway.

Try this:

General/Corporate Inquiries
For general comments and questions about Best Buy Co., Inc., contact:

Best Buy Co., Inc.
Corporate Headquarters
P.O. Box 9312
Minneapolis, MN 55440-9312
612-291-1000

You should go back and get that manager's name and the department he is managing, that is, unless, he is the general manager. I would then file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your state.

If you don't have time, then just blow it off and don't go back to Best Buy. I stopped shopping there. The only reason I still go back is because I got all these gift cards from work (I won them in a contest) and I'm planning to use them for the xbox 360--that is, when they manage to get some in the store LOL.

It's not really that much for the holiday season. Only reason I went there was to redeem those credits.

This doesn't work anymore.

Yeah, that only worked in the 1950s...before corporate started giving people bonuses for doing this kind of sh|t.

:| If I were you, I would go back with more BBB and rub it in. Did you express your displeasure at that jerk?

QFT. Drove an extra 15 min during my lunch break to go to CC to get BF2 instead of going and getting it at BB.

I refuse to purchase stuff from BB.
