I blame it on Americans trying to be more like Europeans. If we cut that shit out, we wouldn't have this huge Federal Government that gives a flying fuck about school lunches and handles things that actually pertain to the Federal Government.

If salt levels fall too far, the body struggles to regulate fluid levels in the first place. That's why hospitals use saline drips to prevent dehydration in patients who can't take fluids orally, and why people with diarhhoea are treated with salt-containing oral rehydration fluids. Presumably the next big investigation at the Express will expose the shocking waste of NHS money on needless quantities of saline solution, when jolly old tap water would work just as well.

Isn't dehydration, by its very definition, a lack of water? If you break down the word, de meaning lack of, hydration, meaning water. I get what you are saying in that the body needs more than just water (electrolytes, etc), but perhaps a better term than dehydration applies.

Water does re-hydrate you. Pop an S-Cap, its a salt/potassium tablet used by runners to get sodium into their bodies quickly during long runs, see if it rehydrates you. I drink probably about 6 or 7 liters of water a day.

And since you're not exactly aware, apparently, dysentery and diarrhea diseases are not caused by dehydration, they are caused by tainted water.

LOL oh wow, massive reading comprehension fail. Of course those diseases aren't caused by dehydration. DEATH from those (completely survivable diseases) is caused by dehydration. All the water in the world won't help in those cases.
