man...so bummed i can't get this on NT!!! How big are everyones temp files now? I'm wondering what the cap will end up being...this could really cause headaches for me at work for those that are running win2k or higher..

My cached folder was at 58 megs earlier and now it's at 50. Who knows what this means, though.
anyone have this running on an NT box? I don't think you can get 7 series wmp for nt can you?
I don't think so... WMP9 works on Win2K but I think the last officially supported version for NT was 6.4 or something like that. 🙁

I think they can generate enough ad revenue because they have the normal commercials that you see on tv. IMO, they should have sportscenter on 24/7 (Or at least ESPNEWS) It would definitely catch a lot of viewers(esp. people without cable) and they could charge more to other companies for the commercials. But then again, this could adversly affect the office productivity of workers...

True, but you have to remember that their web entity is probably separate from their TV division.....That is the concern.

From the FAQ:

8. Why is there advertising at the beginning and/or end of some ESPN Motion video?

ESPN Motion is a very expensive feature to run and we are offering it to our users for free. In order to recoup some of these costs, we present users with a minimal amount of advertising in the form of sponsorships and video ads.

So those ads must be generating revenue for the web entity.

Yeah, I saw that....the question is how long can they sustain? Everybody knows ad revenues are in the toliet....

That is a good question. I imagine ESPN.com is one of the most-trafficked sites on the internet, especially with certain key demographics. However, not everyone will install this, and some people won't even be able to install it due to technical limitations.

They've made a business case for it somehow, though. I'm just going to enjoy it. 🙂

It would be really slick if they added a bunch of stuff. It has the possability to be so much more. Imagine selecting the teams you like and the sports events you are interested in. Then, your own personalized highlights from all your selected get downloaded as its available. Anytime you want, you just click over to espn and you have instant access to all your stuff. Extended highlights instead of the regular two or three possesions they show on air.

I didn't check before I uninstalled, is there a way to tell it what folder to use when it saves the downloaded WMVs? If you could, I'd reinstall.

If there is, I can't find it. There aren't really any options/preferences available as far as I can tell.

In Win2K. it initiates a process called, "DIGSTREAM.exe"

Firewall names it, "DIGStream Cache Manager"

It's taking up 5,240k of memory.

I played the Tyson video in full-screen mode and the image still looks great.

I hear my HD being used now so it must be d/l videos. Not sure if I like that part of it though. We'll see.

downloaded it, then while it was "getting ready" saw that my download speed ramp up.. i think it just downloads videos on your computer's non usage times.

i have a dl quota, do i uninstalled it.. was pretty cool though

and they have ads during the "broadcast", so maybe they'll make money that way.

Just in case... I opened the movies in Media Player instead of on the web page. That's why I could do full screen.

I can watch the movies fullscreen even when viewed on the web page. I am using XP and WMP9. I can also slow down/speed it up, kinda funny to watch some of the clips in fast-forward. 😛

found 2 registry entries:
in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Disney\DIGStream
you'll find a string called CachePath with a value C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DIGStream
you could perhaps try to change that key, and then move the files/subdirectories that are at that location to the new location.
there's also some keys located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Disney\DIGStream
gonna give it a try tomorrow.

Make sure you're using Windows Media Player 9.0. If you try to use something earlier you only get sound.
