We are not at war, we are playing a game of fucking tag. I still can't get over how we are not "allowed" to shoot at a Mosque.

save your anti war rants for the political forum please.

I think it was more of a pro-war rant actually. He is saying that if we were really at war we wouldn't hesitate to attack mosques or other civilian targets that may or may not contain the enemy.
ummm... that was really a stretch. :p

Actually, I read it the same way. Americans at war = pu$$ies at war?

In the past, war was about winning. Civilians (woman and children) be damned.

I agree.

though i am all for trying to keep civillian deaths down. but sometmes you can't.

Yeah I dunno what Mosh was talking about. How is saying we should shoot mosques anti-war

he disagrees with the rules of engagement he was required to follow

i am sure there are many soldiers that would agree with him, but the generals are in charge of that so he/they follow orders

that is how it works

This is a subject that has been eating at me every since I found out that women could vote... Now, before I start I should let you know that I am not sexist and that all opinions I express in the following text are purely political in nature;

Every so often there is a "fad" of sorts where women all over the USA get together and decide that they are being treated unfairly or discriminated against. However, this is not to say that they are always wrong in their protest and sometimes the woman in question actually was treated unfairly but most of the time it seems to me as if the young women fresh out of college who are trying to get a job and just happen to be on their periods join up with the middle aged women who are going through empty nest syndrome and think that they are making a change when all they are really doing is annoying people.

One of the most recent of these events was centered around a college cutting funding for its women's sports because they were not profiting off of them and needed the money for their men's sports which they did profit off of. What a lot of people do not realize is that college sports are not an extracurricular activity, they are a business. Schools like Notra Dame rely on their football team for a large source of their income where as women's field hockey is just a burden. Now, instead of protesting this very legitimate action taken by the school, the women could have been out raising money to help fund the canceled sports... Another sporting related example is women wanting to play on men's teams in sports like football... There are so many issues that would arise from that that I can not even begin to mention them all. Not the least of these are the special treatment she would "need" (like a seperate locker room) and the incredible disadvantage it would put her team at. That said, show me the girl who can bench press 250lbs, run the 40 with a comparable time to the running back and throw a 60 yard pass and I would put her on my team.

Perhaps the best example is women in the armed forces. This also just so happens to be the most dangerous example. Women have absolutely no place in the armed forces. As a soldier I would not want a woman watching my back in battle, I would want a guy pumped up on adrenaline and bursting at the seems with testosterone ready to blow someones' face off watching my back. In close quarters combat I would not want a woman to be my backup, I would once again want a man backing me up. As a soldier in war you kill or be killed, once given the order to fire you fire until ever single one of your enemies is dead or captured. If a woman or child picks up a weapon and aims it at you, you must kill them without hesitation. There is no time for any female based emotional inhibitions about whether or not it is okay to kill someone let alone a woman or child. Squeeze the trigger until the clip is empty then put another clip in. As far as women in high ranking positions as officers, you have the same problem with the femal based emotional inhibitions...

What do you guys think?

My theory is the OP isn't getting any so he has a bone to pick (pun intended) with women in general because they're smart enough not to give him any nookie.

I'll give you an example Ive experienced in high school. I was on the wrestling team. There were a few girls who wanted to wrestle. They joined, no problems really. Everyone was supportive of them etc. However, I do feel it is a bit unfair for a male to have to wrestle against a female. I've done it on more than one occasion and its a very odd role to be in. First, I didn't feel comfortable 'man-handling' a woman. Second, I didn't feel comfortable at all touching said woman in ways that are required when competing against other guys. If you've never wrestled competitively I don't think you'll understand, but if you have I'm sure you do. Third, EVERYONE is cheering for the girl. If the guy wins, big deal. If the girl wins that guy will be ridiculed and taunted for so long. That's really the least of the problems. The 2nd point is the biggest one.

Point of this story though. The girls were allowed to wrestle because they did not have a girls team available to them. Fine, I can live with that. Myself and one other guy one year decided we wanted to play volleyball. (This was legitimate, I had torn my ACL and the wrestling pressures were to hard on it. Volleyball was something my knee could handle.) There was no male volleyball team available, but there was a females. We weren't allowed to join though.

Why not? Women could play all the womens sports, plus the men's football and wrestling sports. Men had basketball, soccer, baseball. No women ever played on those. Women had Soccer, basketball and softball. Some equivalents. For the mens wrestling women had volleyball. But they could also wrestle. And women didn't have a footbal equivalent, but they were allowed to play football. They also had cheerleading.

So I ask you, how is that fair?

Unlike the females, you didn't push it hard enough to play on a female team that didn't have a male equivalent. There are plenty of towns and stories of males playing on a women's volleyball, field hockey and cheerleading teams.

In my middle school a guy wanted to play field hockey, and there was no guy field hockey team, so, after some initial problems, they let him play. They made him wear a skirt like everyone else. He rocked. The team made it to the finals, and the other team refused to play because there was a guy on the team (probably because the team was awesome and they were afraid of losing, but they didn't say that of course). Our team was given the option of not letting him play or forfeiting. Thankfully, my school had some honor and chose the latter.

That being said, I want men and women to be treated equally. Comparably skilled men and women should be paid comparable salaries. Gender ought not be attached to sports. Women should have to register for selective service.

We are not as different as society makes us think.

If war was purely about winning we would have glassed the entire "axis of evil" five years ago.

Here's the thing. The guy shouldn't have been allowed to play on the womens field hockey team. It really isn't fair because they obviously won because of him. At the same time though, the girls shouldn't be allowed to wrestle against the guys. Thats also unfair in many ways (to the men). Bottom line, things don't have to be EQUAL to be fair.

As for your last statement. You think women and men athletes should get paid the same? Ala WNBA makes as much as NBA? If so, I think thats quite a bit off base. The NBA brings in a HELL of a lot more money than the WNBA, therefore they deserve to get paid more. They do a better job of making money for the business, they should get paid more money for doing it.
