epson printers suck!

not only does the thing clog the print heads all the time, but it uses ink to clean them (which the epson product rep told me they did not do while i was selling the things when i brought up the fact that the heads clog easily), and it also has horrific text in quality mode. it still gets satellite drops all over the place! i plugged in my old lexmark 5700 to print up my law school apps because its got great quality in normal mode.

Yes but Lexmark doesn't want anyone else but them to sell you the replacement toner cartridges.

well, thats great, what does that have to do with the crappy print quality and clogging heads on my epson?

Lexmark ink prices are the most expensive of all. They ring in over $35 per cartridge at OD while Epsons and HPs are at the mid to high 20s. I know OD prices are high compared to Fry's or online, but everywhere else Lexmark cartridges are more costy than the rest.

Just get HP printers or Canon printers. They may be more suitable for you.

well, since i can't use the print-outs from my epson for anything but catching crumbs then it doesn't matter who sells the ink for the epson, its still gonna suck. so again, lexmark selling its own ink has no bearing on the fact that the epson sucks.

My mother has had an Epson C80 for about a year and a half. She uses it constantly and has never had a problem. I think they are great myself.

yeah, i'm thinking of getting a canon since i have a 50% off discount on them.

i have an epson 785 epx.

Are you using replacement ink from megatoners or anything similiar? I have the same problems with my Epson with the aftermarket ink.

nope, epson ink

I've got 2 Epson 880s and one 860. I pay about $2-$3 per ink cartidge.

FANTASTIC PRINTERS!!!!

I don't even care how much my kids print and the print quality is great.

EPSON RULES, BABY.

my epson 820 photo printer was a PUNK when i was trying to change its cartridges. it didn't read the print levels correctly and a full cartridge was empty. 🙁 so i had to put in another brand new cartridge and it finally read it correctly.

sigh and at costco they sell 820 ink in packs of one black, 2 color, when i use up the black faster. grr.

that is exactly the reason we changed ours. It was very anal when it comes to change the cartridges.. We'd have one of the 3 colors running low and would like to change the cartridge but it won't let us!!!:| simply because the fact that the cartridge was not empty :|

My Epson C80 took a $hit when someone tossed it off the balconey when I was moving out of my apartment.

Do you think I could get an RMA? 😀

Well mine just died last night as I was starting my taxes!:disgust:

Epsons are great for higher quality inkjets like the 1280 and above..Stuff below the 1280 is ok..even though they might share the same print engine. I never use after market inks with my prints.

Epson Stylus 875DC Photo Printer here. No problems with black/whites and no problems with color photos. Although photos from ofoto.com kick a lot more a$s.

This is because you buy new print-heads with every new cartridge. That's what I hate about Epson is that you cannot readily remove the print-heads and clean them manually.

I LOVE Lexmark.
