And it was probably pirated more as well. Stop eating Cliff's lunch and he'll come back to the PC. I know some of you frauds probably do miss his games despite the angst. This is the price you pay in theft, you get nothing at all...

What the hell is your problem? Why the fuck are we thieves just because we are PC users.

Im with kaotik you can fuck right off for calling us all thieves.

PC gamers drop more money on their graphics cards then console gamers pay for the entire console. You think we don't have money to buy a 50$ dollar game? Is this real life?

Developers need to understand that if their game is shitty, no one is going to buy it and stop blaming piracy for everything.

UT was the first PC game I ever bought... still have the box for it and everything. It's been installed on every build for over a decade now -- even though I haven't played it in quite a while, I can't imagine it not being there.

Too bad we never got an HD version of Unreal on a modern engine, a la Serious Sam -- that would have been awesome.

There's just so much wrong with the statement. On one hand he says PC gamers are more tech savy so will pirate things, then he says PC gaming is easier to pirate. So which it? Either it's easy to pirate for so you DON'T have to be tech savy to do it, or you DO need to be tech savy to do it... and then would also know how to do it on the consoles as well.

Pirating can't be ignored on the PC, but to assume everybody does it is silly. I think Steam has curbed piracy more than anything... and that's a PC centric service. Both with cheap games and a tough to crack service. Companies that know what they're doing don't run away from problems like little bitches, they figure out a solution.
id say both. Pretty easy to pirate pc games.

That doesn't stop people from pirating games. :D

Especially since CliffyB started being a douchenozzle.

He's not the only member of that team deserving of the term.

Who would actually care about Unreal Tourney IV anyway? You know it's going to be a gimped port if it comes out on the PC anyway.

In other douchenozzle news:

Cliff Bleszinski said:
BULLETSTORM DEMO COMING TO 360/PS3 JANUARY 25th. In other news, PC gamers are grumpy about this.

If it makes you feel any better Bulletstorm was a bomb for them at least :D
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07/25/bullestorm-flops/

To be fair, I actually played the demo of Bulletstorm, and I really enjoyed it (the whole 3 minutes of it). Mastering the "skill-shots" became really satisfying, not to mention, the graphics were quite vivid and colorful... unlike most other AAA shooters. It was a fresh IP with fresh ideas. And it failed commercially - which is a damn shame. I want to see more of these kinds of games coming from major studios.

Don't worry, I'm still not 100% at Epic's defense. Clifford is still a douche (especially when he makes insulting/ignorant comments about PC gamers - I agree). But it's this sort of thing that makes me torn between whether or not I want to buy Bulletstorm or not. I guess we could look at it this way: Cliff might be douchey, but at least he's not outright evil like Bobby Kotick (has no passion for gaming; doesn't even play his own games).

Eh... I'll probably pick it up when it appears in a Steam sale.

And to those who are saying that all PC gamers are filthy pirates: Fuck off. There are people here who are legitimately passionate about PC games, and who legitimately pay money for them. I support developers in hopes that the platform will flourish.

The only thing I feel bad about with the whole Bulletstorm thing is, People Can Fly. I have a feeling Epic had them changing/adding stuff they originally didn't plan on till they were bought.

I found the demo, ok. It was a game I could only play a little bit here and there, and from what I read about it, the game seriously lacks content and it should never have been released as a $60 title. I do agree with the whole new IP thing and how it was very colorful which is all toooooooo rare nowadays. I figure it will probably be dirt cheap during the holiday sale on Steam.

I love Unreal, logged literally 1000's of hours into UT 99 but its been going downhill since UT 2004. UT 3 was a complete fucking JOKE of a game, i seriously felt like i had been robbed after playing it and realizing how bad it was.

I feel the same way. UT3 was an abortion. It was released in a heavily consolized, buggy beta state. Perhaps it's improved a little bit with the patches, but without a player base what good is it?

I wonder if Epic learned anything. Maybe next time they'll just make a combined UT99-2 and UT 2004-2 that isn't in any way consolized and release it as a fully polished project.

I thought the fundamentals of UT3 were great, but it got really muddied up with the crazy vehicles and such. But more importantly, as someone else already stated, Deathmatch is dead.

The problem is that on-foot no-vehicles CTF is pretty much dead, which is a real shame. UT3's Warfare isn't as good as UT 2004's Onslaught and it doesn't have nearly the amount of custom Onslaught maps or mods, so there's still lots of people playing UT 2004.

Where UT3 really needed to succeed was it's no-vehicles CTF game, which is what drove the original UT99. The CTF game was like a cybersport when played in clan matches and pugs. That's what a new UT game would have to offer that the other shooters can't--a fast paced team-based cybersport.

Honestly, I didn't really care for any of the vehicle additions in UT2004. I feel like they were added to showcase the engine could do them, not because they made much sense. I would have preferred UT99 with a graphical update and some new game modes. If I'm honest though I'm not really into the traditional shooter style anymore.

You need to give the vehicles and UT 2004's Onslaught a chance. I was skeptical about it too, being a long-time UT99 CTF vet, but Onslaught is a great game once you get into it.

The game is cheap nowadays. IMO UT3 is a better version of UT99

UT3 is complete and utter crap compared to UT99. They're not even in the same league. Proof--compare the player counts for each game at a given amount of time after each game's release. UT99 totally crushes UT3. UT99 was a rocking success where as UT3 was a huge consolized failure. It's OK to like UT3 if you like it, but get the story right.

Onslaught in 2K4 was a lot of fun and a team game that felt much different from CTF.

The vehicles were great, from zipping around in the fragile hovercraft to lumbering around in a tank.

It's called TF2, although that game has its own share of problems.

Ignoring everything else, that is an absolutely abysmal way to attempt to compare the two games lol. There's 10 years of increased competition and changing demographics and userbase in there somewhere :D

I didn't mind UT3 really, but I never really got into 99 or 2k4 either, so it didn't really feel that different. The 'story' mode seemed pretty lame and I did feel like the matches felt more repetitive than the offline modes did before. I think they did busy up the game a bit much with the orbs and all the vehicles and the hoverboards and crap, but at it's core I felt like the game itself still played pretty decently like the titles before it, it's just a matter of finding the game modes you want to play.

While I hate pirates more than just about anyone (since they affect me when I buy a DRM ridden mess like Dragon Age), I actually hope that all Epic games get pirated to hell when they are good, and completely bomb when they are bad. I also hope that no-one uses their next engine, so that they go bankrupt and don't push out crappy games anymore. Moreso, the reason I want them to go under is because you are acting like a douchebag, and it seems like you have a personal interest in Epic doing well.

I have never played any of the UT games, and after reading your uninformed, yet thouroughly insulting comments, I don't think I ever will. I was planning on buying Bulletstorm after I finished DA:O, but now I will avoid it. (Although, I think I read that it had GFWL anyway, which would prevent me from buying it as well - but I was going to look into that first.)

Anyway, I hope that you spend some time in jail for your illegal activities - whatever they are. Maybe you can slip on a banana peel today and break your neck.

Yeah...
I bought both UT2k4 & UT3 right at or around launch.
I also got Unreal Anthology later on, which i've barely ever played.

Please take your assumptions elsewhere.
