I used to hold 30+ person UT competitions back in the UT2004 days. We loved all the unreal games up to that point. Then they made 3. It just didn't have any of the same charm.

Also, I was pissed that their promised mac, linux, win on launch day never happened. In fact, I think they never did finish the linux or mac versions. At the time I was a linux user, so I didn't buy it.

Whatever the launch version was so i would assume 1.0. I bought it(at full price, rare for me) installed it. Played it for 8-10 hours decided it sucked and stopped. Then a few weeks later i figured i would give it another shot and spend a whole weekend exploring all the differnt play modes and differnt servers and decided after another 20 hours of gameplay it still sucks and uninstalled it and that was it. It wasnt something a patch could fix it was just a shit game.

I find it odd you spent 30 hours on a game that you thought sucked. I've spent 1/3 less time playing games I thought were great. Why spend so much time on something you claim to dislike so much?

I thought the fundamentals of UT3 were great, but it got really muddied up with the crazy vehicles and such. But more importantly, as someone else already stated, Deathmatch is dead.

I was trying to like it to much. Felt if i played it more it would grow on me. Besides with 1000+ hours into UT99 30 hours is nothing.

Honestly, I didn't really care for any of the vehicle additions in UT2004. I feel like they were added to showcase the engine could do them, not because they made much sense. I would have preferred UT99 with a graphical update and some new game modes. If I'm honest though I'm not really into the traditional shooter style anymore.

The game is cheap nowadays. IMO UT3 is a better version of UT99

Heh.

Not very happy with Epic after they basically said we PC gamers are meaningless customers as has already been mentioned...funny thing, we are the only reason they ever got going in the first place.

Apparently they forgot their roots.

I really appreciate the fact that they have Text to Voice!

if you see people typing long long loooong = lololol etc and don't have this feature turned on, its worth it taking the time to do so!

my dirt bike goes: nununununununununununununnununnunununununnunuununununununununununununununununununuununnununuunuunununnunnununuununununu

Hah, the simple things.

I did reinstalled UT2k4 after loading the OS again on this SSD, but haven't bothered with UT3. Never played it anyway for the longest time as i prefer 2k4.

Fixed that for you which should have been a no brainer considering Cliff smacked you in the mouth and took his ball and went home to the Xbox. But lets be honest its not like PC gamers really gave him any choice. Had he stuck out with the pc the poor would be bankrupted having to work at the EA game mill.

Whas really interesting is that Cliff has expressed concerns about console game reselliing. Maybe with a little lobbying and his sales assured EPIC can afford to make a great game for your PC so you can steal it.

I don't know where you get off calling me a thief, but you can go fuck off.

I agree. It seems like most people that complain about UT3 being bad are fans of 2k4. I personally hated 2K4 as a UT99 and Quake 3 fan. The game was just balanced far too much for vehicles, making the death match and CTF damage model and character physics without vehicles really bad, IMO.

UT3 in DM and CTF plays a lot more like UT99 in my experience, so I'll take that over 2K4 any day.

o_O UT2k4 as a PC exclusive sold more than UT3 sold on all the consoles combined.

lol there's a whole lot of butthurt in here over that one statement. who cares? i think it rings true, far as i'm concerned it's a both easier to pirate on the pc and less risky and (as so very many pc gamers are eager to point out) the average pc gamer tends to be at the very least a bit more tech savvy than an average console gamer.

Doesn't matter what you think. If it range true then the PC wouldn't be getting games/ports at all if there wasn't money to be made on it. I'm sure a great majority of us do know how to go about pirating a game, but just because you know how to do something doesn't mean you will do. Being tech savy has more to do with the average pc gamer building/tweaking their own system then the need/want to pirate something.

If you want to bitch about pirating, I also think you need to look at the console markets pirating. It has become extremely bad on the consoles, most new/major releases now that are leaked well ahead of time are for the consoles now. Consoles now are extremely easy to crack for pirating, they either require you following a few very simple instructions, maybe burning a disc or buying like a $50 adapter. Then to top it off on top the pirating on consoles, you have to deal with second hand sales with as far as a publisher is concerned is just as bad since they don't see any money from that sale.

Also, how would you feel being called a thief when you do not steal and try and support the hobby you love as much as you can.

There's just so much wrong with the statement. On one hand he says PC gamers are more tech savy so will pirate things, then he says PC gaming is easier to pirate. So which it? Either it's easy to pirate for so you DON'T have to be tech savy to do it, or you DO need to be tech savy to do it... and then would also know how to do it on the consoles as well.

Pirating can't be ignored on the PC, but to assume everybody does it is silly. I think Steam has curbed piracy more than anything... and that's a PC centric service. Both with cheap games and a tough to crack service. Companies that know what they're doing don't run away from problems like little bitches, they figure out a solution.

It's both, duh. That's why I said it. It is both easier to pirate on the PC and the average PC gamer is more capable of doing it. They work together, I figured that much was obvious.

Pit bulls are vicious killers, black people are good at basketball, americans are all fat, and pc gamers steal games. True or not (especially when not) these are still the way the world thinks about these things. And there's at least some truth in all of them and most stereotypes.

And it was probably pirated more as well. Stop eating Cliff's lunch and he'll come back to the PC. I know some of you frauds probably do miss his games despite the angst. This is the price you pay in theft, you get nothing at all...
