Just to reaffirm, because I see some non-believers in here still, that is a real $10 Gold Certificate. And to all the non-believers take a look @ these bills as well.

I'm guessing they arent real because they have color and such? These are called silver certificates.

Nope you are wrong. If it was a gold Certificate it would look like this one.

Back in the day ALL of the older Reserve Note not the Silver or gold certificates had the typing they they are redemable in gold. But a true silver or gold certificate will look liek the link above and thoes are worth alot of money depending on the condition and face value printed on the bill.

But the top of the and bottom writings on the bill makes the diff between a Federal reserve note and a certificate one.

I have to deposit some checks today at my bank so I'll have them confirm the authenticity. Results tonight when I get home!!!

Uh...I wouldn't trust the bank people either, they probably aren't experts on bills this old. ASK a coin collector!

That and if it is fake they may have to call the feds. You will then be anal probed to give out the location of where you got it. They wil lget a warrant to search your home. OR the clerk is a collector and lies to you and says she wil lhave to take it from you because it is fake, when it isnt, and takes it home.

Collector is the safe bet 😉

That bill looks to be in pretty good condition for something that old. I'm guessing some kid stole it from their parents collection and used to buy something.

It looks ligit to me. Next time find the Richmond 1928 C, worth about $1500. Looks like someone carried in their wallet for along time. Probably only worth about $15. There were 7,748,040 printed.

LOL. Its real. I'm going to make up a bunch of fake new bills and exchange them for old bills from all the posters here that keep pointing out "proof" that it's fake.

Is there a moire pattern in the background behind his head, can't tell from your picture. But otherwise real, even though you just got it checked.

FINALIZED! The $10 bill is real. Got it confirmed today at the bank.

There was nothing in the original picture to think otherwise

Maybe to you, but to some of us it looked fake. And for me, the texture of the bill was different than other bills - like it had a crispier sound than the newer bills.
