Car and Driver tested a 350Z along with some other cars including the Mach 1 Mustang. If I remember correctly they were similar in price but the Mustang went 0-60 in 5.2 and the 350Z was 5.7.

Yes your numbers are correct but the Stang sucked on handling 🙁. Read it here!

Ding ding ding!!! WINNAR!!!!

Dude, the Sentra is my daily commuter.

The Civic is where the fun is at.
It's my weekend/project car 😀

A lot of you guys are reacting negatively to my suggestions.
So does an ITR engine manual tranny swap sound better?

Dammit man, you really are serious! Why would you want to invest that kind of money and effort into a Civic? We're reacting negatively because you're taking an economy grandma car and wanting to race mustangs! There's lots better, funner, and cheaper ways to make sleepers you know. I guess after about 10 or 20k you could conceivably be able to keep up with the mustangs, but you'll never, ever see that money again on resale time!
😕

But he will be 733T! And able to score with all those righteous 14 year old asian chicks!

HAHAHA you invest thousands in that civic and you will still get wasted by my $800 turbo caravan with a couple hundred in mods 🙂

If you do manage to beat my minivan I have my 89 5.0l Mustang as back up.

I wonder how many here say it's such a waste of money to mod the Civic..then turn around and buy a $350 video card, which is practically worthless after a few years. The irony of it all....

I'm not saying either way is good or bad - but whatever..it's his money 🙂

Go civic.🙂 I'd be skeered to take you on after your "cold air intake and warm air intake" mod.😉

His modded civic would rape my supra...I'd be sitting there spinning the tire while he took his time going down the tack....damn my lack of traction.

You're supposed to do burnouts in the burnout box not on the track silly!! 😛😀

And for the original topic... he's missing the most crucial element. Double decker touring wing to reduce drag... instant 5mph right there!! 😛

Holy frigg... this is serious? Get a real import car with real potential... like a DSM, Supra, 300ZX, etcetcetc. Heck, ATOT decided long ago that the two best choices for cheap and goes fast with little $$ were 5.0s and DSMs.
$2K-3K for the car and 1-2K in mods will have those cars nipping at low/mid 13s... possibly high 12s if you drive like a raving lunatic.

Wait, I know it's a joke because psteng19 is a Nissan fanboy...he drives a Sentra!

Ya but it is still a sentra! like the bottom of nissans lineup. in a few years it'll be in a junkyard... 😛

You wanna know the easiest way to get your Civic faster? It's all about the ENGINE SWAP, drop a B18C in there and we'll see how that SLOWstang compares to you now!

P.S. You're car will never be a top end car so I recommend building the engine to be a low end car so you beat them straight off the line. You know a Civic won't last against a car that goes pass around 130MPH and that's IF you do the engine swab. Also, if plan on going all motor, get the H22A instead.

You can race me, your stock Civic can beat my stock Passat any day. I do 0-60 in like, 8.5 secs. But I can boost my HP from 170 to 205 by spending $500 to chip my engine.

VTEC is good stuff. I have a '95 Nissan Altima and my dad has a '99 Honda accord. Both are 4 cyl. Both are 150hp. Not only that, my car is rated as more torque and it weighs less than the accord, yet the Accord is definately faster, you can feel the accelartion all the way to redline. My altima, however, tapers off at around 4,500 rpm.

What's an engine swab? Is it just a big Q-tip?

😛

This thread wasn't about handling, but if you read closely the Mustang's avg. speed around the track was only 1/2 mph slower than the Honda S2000.

I took it to the track last weekend...managed a 12.32 @ 115 MPH. I'm having some serious traction issues. I start my internship @ a Mechanical contracting firm in February, so as soon as I get some money i'm going to redo the suspension, and hope for some 11's. I could get some drag radials, but it's my daily driver and they would wear too fast. Thanks for asking 🙂

damn...nice trap speed...

i still cannot stop laughing at this thread....ROFL

i think it is indeed cheating.. any time you can push a button for more power is like putting in a cheat code for games 😛

but that's just me.. obviously some other people like it.

You know what a WOT switch is, right?

BIKES own joo all! 😉

bikes are hella fast... but i have a couple vids of cars beating them... bikes aren't that great for top end runs 😉

There are some cars that beat bikes.. F1 cars lap faster than MotoGP, and Top fuel rails are faster than any bike.. It's just that up to a professional limit, the bike will do it cheaper and easier..

i'm not talking professional cars... i'm talking about street driven cars... imports at that... although i don't doubt that an american muscle car with enough power could do the same

So what?

If you can't make the power on the engine without N02 then its cheating.

Without nitrous a lot of cars are just plain slow.

What, you expected to BEAT a mustang in a goddamn civic? wtf? my mom drives one too (a civic), but come on .. it's a panzy car. It's good for point a to point b and getting there without chugging gas.. a "rustang" chugs the gas but it'll get you from point a to b in half the time. 😉

Please, those mods won't save you. and if you're talking about the mustangs i think you are, they aren't that heavy, so your civic being "light" isn't a huge advantage there. FWD being more efficient? huh? I thought RWD gave you better launches?

anyway if this really isn't a joke, and you're actually *so* concerned with being a !!COOL RACER DUDE!! , why not ditch the civic and get a car you can actually race with?

My 65 year old mother in law drives a Civic! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! A Civic as a racer? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

stupid civic racers *sigh*

granted it's not a "civic" per se... still 😛

Yes, but the 350z cost $35,000 whereas the Mach1 cost $27,500. The Cobra costs $35,000, would rape the 350z over and over again down the 1/4 mile, and with the IRS would probably handle *almost* as well as the 350z, if not as well
