I stop at a red light next to a blue, stock looking Mustang, one of the ulgy, late 80's body, kinda like the one Notfred has.
I'm in my '98 Civic EX auto (127 HP) - only mods are hacked airbox (+5 hp), 30% tint, and my sound system.
He starts to rev, and I'm like, wtf... he wants to run?
Light turns green and he's off. I really wasn't expecting that, so I'm late but I floor it WOT.
Obviously his RWD and manual launch, has the edge against my FWD auto (didn't feel like doing the ghetto 1,2,D3,D4 shifting).
Plus I wasn't expecting to race.
He had a pretty good lead throughout, about 7-10 car lengths.
But by the time I hit 80, I felt the power of VTEC kick in and I gained on him (about 3-5 car lengths), and that pussy decides to take the next exit.
So technically, he won but I didn't know he was gonna race, and he didn't give me a chance to play catch up.
So I figure now it's time mod my Civic.
I'm thinking:
cold air intake (+15 hp)
warm air intake (+10 hp)
header (+20 hp)
high flow cat (+15 hp)
exhaust w/2.5" piping (+20 hp)
high stall torque converter (+20 hp)
Si cams (+25 hp)
stage I weight reduction - backseat, spare/jack, subs/amps (-100 lbs)
With a gain of +130 hp, I'll be running with 257 hp.
Not bad with basic bolt ons.
And to transfer that power to the ground, I'll need some tokico or koni struts, eibach/h&r springs, and 205/45/17 rim/tire combo for more traction.
This should be good enough to take out any Rustang GT/5.0, especially with my lower weight.
If needed, I'll throw in a 50 shot of NOS (+50 hp).
Other than the rims and tint, my car will be close to stock looking so don't start screaming rice.
It'll be a sleeper... no show, all go 😀
So wutcha guys think?
