I have a good friend that is very much Chinese and lived in your Canada for the last 6 years.

He thinks you're an idiot.

I am 100% positive that this "a lot of people from China don't like what they see happening in Canada" is purely made up horseshit from unsourced nonsense spammed by idiots that you identify with and uncritically sympathize with.

Or you just made that up right now in this post.
It's been his MO for years to construct complicated notions from a tiny nugget of data he thinks he saw or heard somewhere at some point in time.

He spun out over at "the site which shall not be named" a couple of years ago about U.S. "death camps." He basically got ridiculed so bad he left the site.

But for some reason Trump got the most Jewish support than any Republican since Bush 88.

That was because he was a useful idiot for right wing Jewish groups and notably Bibi's bullshit stoking nationalism to try to keep in power. Remember Turmp for no good reason moving the American embassy?

I think Turmp also floated anti-boycott of Israel shit.

Just more of the usual bunch of fucking bullshit. Israel has only themselves to blame for the anti-Israel sentiment (that yes, is unfortunately going to full blown anti-Semitism) because of their treatment of Palestine, coupled with their government buddying up to far right groups at home and abroad (which literally included white nationalist groups that openly talk about exterminating Jews - which Bibi and the other power hungry scum 100% knew and didn't give a shit about because they were desperate to keep power). What did they think was going to happen when they partnered with such groups as well as helped facilitate modern misinformation and conspiracy shit, with all conspiracies ending up at blaming Jews for everything real and imagined.

I do agree that's extreme but I see where they are coming from, it's not about what Hitler did, but how he got to the point of doing that and got the people's support.

Look at what's going on in China. THAT is the kind of stuff we don't want to happen here. This is why protests are important and that governments need to be kept in check. They are suppose to be public servants not dictators and sometimes they need to be reminded this. Trudeau is a hypocrite for saying he supports China protests while he called the Canada one nazis and other names.

There are lot of people from China who are in Canada and do not like what they see, because they've experienced it at home. If you pay attention there is lot of stuff not on the news that's going on, such as bills to suppress free speech. Bill C-11 for example. The government will have authority over any content that you publish online. That's stepping into very dangerous territory.
I agree with your overall point of not getting to tyranny, but I think you're wrong in the details because I don't think it will happen in Canada, at least not to the same extent as a place like China.

The day that happens I will be on the streets protesting also.

Almost all the PRC citizens I have met are in favour of the CCP. Not that I expect them to tell me otherwise. No reason to take unnecessary risk for chit chat.

Can't say I really asked them about the dominant role of the CCP. They didn't seem to have the same takes on what the _policies_ of the CCP should be though. Which I found surprising, considering the apparent lack of open debate over politics within China. I guess there maybe are debates that occur among the elites behind closed doors?

I don't think it will happen either, but it's up to the people to ensure it doesn't and to nip any attempts in the bud and to support those who do protest, such as the truckers. We cannot let our guard down, because the way tyrants work is to slowly chip away at freedoms and to use propaganda and fear to try to convince the masses that it's ok. It seems governments in general have been doing this for decades. I noticed it after 9/11 but it was probably happening before that. We can all reminisce about things that used to be legal, but the opposite is rare.

Is the left getting the Hunter Laptop story wrong?
I get it, its sort of a Franken moment, cause in comparison to what right?
But! The level of access from the Biden campaign reaching into twitter pulling on willing bodies to do its bidding seems wrong too. I know its the smallest burger ever. Still. Or am I losing it cause I saw the opinion expressed on CNN?

When crybaby's like the truckers protest every little thing that hurts their feelings it dilutes the power of protests and we start to ignore them. Save your protests for things that are ACTUALLY happening, not made up bullshit you hear about in conservative media.

Um, no. The ONLY contact the Biden campaign had was an email with a list of links of Hunter's dick pics asking them to be removed. (TOS violation)

The rest was in house debate over if this was hacked material. (TOS violation)

From my understanding every campaign has staff that do exactly this sort of thing and it's neither exceptional or interesting.

Like why would it be wrong for a campaign to make a request of a social media company? This happens every day.

Not wrong for the campaign but questionable for twitter?

I think the Biden camp has the right to ask that materials like dick pics taken from a laptop without the owner's consent be removed. Just as releasing nudes from anyone without their consent would be treated.

That was the "Handled" "smoking gun" Musky tried to pass off as a scandal.

The list of links for removal were all Hunter's junk.

Why? If you contacted Twitter about posts that you felt violated their TOS should they ignore you?
No, but a concerted effort to suppress everyone quipping about the story cause of a personal belief that this is another "russian dnc hack" like story... Hey I am not trying to sell anyone a bridge here,, just gaming the idea, at what point would you pull back and say aaarh that's a stretch mr twitz.

I think Twitter may have erred in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story but meh, it was a clearly shady story coming from a disreputable source in an election where we all knew with certainty that foreign intelligence services were trying to manipulate.

Really though the whole 'campaigns asking Twitter to remove posts' thing is less than a zero. As someone mentioned this was Elon's Al Capone vault - frankly it was pathetic.

It's not like this story was hidden anyway or buried in general. Everyone has heard of it.

The fact that the Republicans are still targeting Hunter Biden just shows you how little they have against Joe Biden.
The Bidens are not the Trump family, it's not like Joe Biden just gave everyone a Government position like Trump did. It's also not Biden's fault if Twitter moderation is D-leaning. Fox news and Murdoch controlled media in general are way way worse.

Yes, I agree. This is more copium from republicans searching for a reason they lost other than that voters don’t like their policies and candidates.

I think it would be bad if social media companies moderated with a partisan lean but the good news is all research into this says that’s not the case.

I think what would have been “too much” would be if Biden reached out to Twitter and Twitter said we’d love to help you win your election, what can we do.

You know, like the Russians did when they reached out to the trump campaign.
