WHO FUCKING CARES. We've got one presumptive nominee on one side who is more or less the Approved Corporatist Candidate, and an evil orange clown on the other.
You don't care when you tell incorrect things? She's not 1/8th Cherokee and you said she was.

Lies are ok because trump I guess.

People like you make it so fucking tiresome to come to places like this, because you insist on parsing the fuck out of everything, and dragging every discussion into the weeds.

I DID NOT SAY DEFINITIVELY that she was 1/8 Cherokee. I said, "or something."

And with this, I'm done with this line of discussion. Don't bother me with it any further.

If "or something" includes 0% then I guess I'm fine with it.

...Roughly 4 minutes before you did?

Except I didn't speak for progressives in general at all although I count myself among them.

You did & you're certainly not a progressive. It's a form of concern trolling.

I have one of those as well. I'm tempted to do the ancestry.com DNA thing.

This thread made me do some searching. I've read most families with deep New England roots almost always have between 1/36th to 1/96th Indian DNA. There was more race mixing in the settlers days than what was spoken about.
Back to Warren its a big leap to assume a qualified Professor only got the job because of an American Indian check box. She received excellent performance reviews and if I remember correctly excellent feedback from her students.
I understand why conservative guys don't like her but to obsess about this point is silly. Look at the good news she's for reigning in the big banks, adding accountability to the Fed and completely against tpp and more trade deals. These are positions pretty close to Trump.

Gosh, ya know, I could turn right around and claim that YOU are not a progressive, either, and that you're engaging in gaslighting.

You see how meaningless this all becomes, really fucking quickly?

You mis-characterize Warren's position in several ways-

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2015/02/10/sen-warren-opposes-audit-the-fed-bill/

You also mis-characterize Trump's position wrt Wall St-

I saw how meaningless your original bullshit was the moment it appeared on the screen. I haven't claimed the right to speak for progressives wrt to Warren. You did & you're certainly not a progressive by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't need to be a progressive to point that out.

What direct evidence is there that this effected her chances in any way?

why should this matter? so its only wrong if you benefited from it? and even if she did benefit from it you really think at this point there would be admission of that on either her or the organization which showed her preferential treatment?

My whole point is, that a lot of people have thought they were part something. If people keep making these claims that she benefited from it and her whole career is a lie because of it. PROVE IT. An 18 year old who heard through family that she is part Native American put on a form that she is part Native American. There is no proof what so ever that this was done for any nefarious means. Its a stupid attack.

You don't need to have spent the money you stole in order to be guilty of theft. It appears she lied about being American Indian (Cherokee) and there are benefits in academia because of this designation. The lie is enough. Whether people deciding on her qualifications for positions were influenced by it cannot be known and is an unreasonable standard of proof.

Lots of people are taught as children that they have native american ancestry, particularly in Oklahoma. Believing it doesn't make them liars. Being wrong about it merely makes them mistaken.

It's the usual from right wing propagandists trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. If you want to see a mountain of lies, click here-

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...d-trumps-four-pinocchio-ratings-in-one-place/

He's told more since then (his lips moved, didn't they?) but it's Warren's belief in being of native american heritage that's egregious to True Believers.

Shee-it, Sherlock- Trump's hair & Trump's cheetoh tan are bigger lies than any Warren ever told.

Considering what the settlers got up to, and what still happens to Native American women, there's gonna be a some Native American blood pumpin' in ye guys with a modest American ancestry.

And American Indian is different from Native American. Quit disenfranchising the indigenous people ta suit yer throbbin' red 'n' blue ego-prick.

The terms are basically interchangeable in the US. Native American is a broader term, often referring to Eskimoes & Araucanians as well- Anybody whose ancestors were in the Americas prior to the arrival of the Spanish.
