:whiste:

Ah, that's a good idea...how's the texture after a few days tho? I only ever do the 1/2 cup quantity & then mix in different flavors the night before.

I've been making the same one for probably 2 weeks now - it's ridiculously good:

Mix & Stir:
Oats
Milk
Flax
Chia
Brown Sugar

On the side, mash banana and mix with PB for creamy texture.

Add the banana/PB mixture to the milk mixture and stir to combine.

I stir it before I eat, and have had zero issues with it being in the fridge for 4 days or so. Creamy peanut buttery healthy deliciousness. Also fairly cheap when you think about how much you can make. You'll never go back to sugary cereal.

I'm hungry.

^^

I might try something similar, just substituting almond butter for the peanut butter. And maybe leaving out the flax and chia ... lol.

For a little spicing up I sometimes will add cocoa powder, walnuts/almonds, or coconut if I have any of it. As mentioned already, the combinations are basically endless.

Absolutely, and I'm glad you call them muddy buddies and not puppy chow

*internet five*

My mom has made them every year for Christmas since I can remember. She sometimes uses Crispix but they're always good

Puppy chow?? D:

TIL that "adults" eat food designed for fussy 7 year olds.

Get yourselves a bacon and egg sarnie in the morning.

Had to google "sarnie" since it's one of those words we don't have in the colonies...
yea, that's what I like for breakfast for sure!
Though a full english breakfast is more appealing ...

I don't suppose it would have helped if I'd said "a bacon butty"?

I can't do a full fry up for breakfast any more. I need to have a bit of a sleep after to get over it.
I tend to have one at about 9 in the morning after my stretch of night shifts have finished.

Full fry up + couple of pints of Guinness + then sleeping for nine or so hours = fucking awesome.

Yeah, I've met several people around here call it puppy chow

Don't know if that's a regional thing in the midwest

Not many words get on my nerves, but puppy chow, no way haha. Also don't like calling soda "pop". Whenever I visit the midwest & people call it pop, I feel like I'm in an episode of Leave it to Beaver 😀

Yeah, that's what they call it in Nebraska. Even the pre-packaged kind you get from the bakery section in the grocery store.

Nope, but google is useful for English to English translation.

We have about 1000 different words for sandwich here too, just different localization...

Guinness is good for you, or so they say. I only eat "gooood" breakfasts rarely, but I am a big fan of breakfast for dinner...

I'm 40 years old and eat about three boxes of cereal a week. I find it to be a perfectly acceptable substitute for dinner in a lot of cases.
I've decided that for the most part, boxed cereal can be broken down into two categories:

1) Cereals that must be eaten quickly, or they turn to nasty mush-shit if they sit in milk too long. These include the Flaky Bran Cereal (Frosted-flakes, Raisin-Bran, Wheaties), the circle-oat cereals (Cheerios and derivatives) and the odd-shaped thin crisp cereals( Rice-Crispies, The flintstones cereals).

2)Cereals that are at peak when they have soaked in milk for a while. These include cube shaped wheat/rice/corn cereals (Frosted Mini-wheats, Life, Crispx).

I usually prefer the soaked-cereals, but find that each one has very specific soak times before their peak starts to decline.

The one cereal that I've tried that doesn't fit seems to be Grape-nuts. I'm not sure how anyone manages to eat these things. They're like mini granite- balls that grate your teeth until you just give up. I've tried coating in sugar, soaking in milk, nukin in the microwave and nothing has ever made them edible to me.

Yeh i probably put too much thought into cereal.....

That just sounds f'n lazy. Just because it's categorized as food and it tastes good doesn't mean it's a good substitute for a real meal.

Mom? How the hell did you find Anandtech??! It's hard enough to get you to check your Yahoo mail!

Don't make me come over there and kick your ass, young man. I can still do it, you know.

No more of that cereal crap. Eat your liver and onions. It has a lot of iron in it, and you know cranky you get when your iron is low.

For many years I enjoyed sugar (corn) pops and frosted flakes, but I can't eat them anymore because they are so loaded with chemicals (vitamins) they taste like shit.
Even regular corn flakes are loaded with this crap. I'm pretty sure this is due to govt rules.
This is govt over-regulation when it ruins the product.
Anyone know of any cereal that isn't loaded with nasty tasting chemicals?

I doubt that.

It sound more like too little regulation.

Used to pick up boxes of that along with cans of jam on our trips to Fort Francis.

Not readily available down here, although there are ways to copy it, it seems.

I used to live in Fort Francis. The town stunk so bad because of the pulp and paper mill.

The Red River Cereal is sold on Amazon and eBay [insanely priced]😱

Both of these jams contained whole strawberry.
