Are you a mind reader? Have you been in my house to see the TV for yourself.
I am not jumping on any "it's actually broken wagon. "

The TV does have issues that I didn't mention in my original post because I just wanted to see what other people's experiences were. Sorry if I want to take advantage of Costco's return policy. I tend to procrastinate so that's partly why I am thinking of doing this far into the return period, that and my brother was in the hospital for a little while and I am sure I will need him if and when I return the set.

Man, you would think I'm taking money from some of the posters pockets. Such vitriol.

10 years at ATOT, you should have known better 😀

Doesn't change the fact that your original intentions to return the TV is due to buyer's remorse. I'm not questioning whether or not you CAN return the TV since costco's return policy will let you. But SHOULD you is another question.

If you had wanted to return it to do malfunctions/problems with the TV, you would have said so in your OP.

[Hulk Rage]Every time I see somebody return opened and used stuff at Costco, I want to go over and smash their faces in for their greed and selfishness! Why can't they just be content with what they have? Why didn't they read the many reviews online before making their purchase? Why can't they have some self control so they don't buy stuff they don't need in the 1st place![/Hulk Rage]

This

I had to go to Wal-Mart yesterday, 11 Month old battery in wife's car died, (it had a 3 yr. free replacement warranty).
While in line at the Service Desk, I witnessed one young lady return a $1.39 box of cake mix, another girl returned 2 x $0.69 cans of Generic Tomato Juice, and one Guy TRY to return his USED Wiper Blades he had stuck in the packages AFTER he installed the new ones! (The Service lady took them out of the opened packages, they were literally torn! She told him she couldn't issue a refund for USED blades!)

All of this stuff is a byproduct of our entitlement society... Who do I have to vote for to get free stuff?

;disgust;

no.

i purchased berries from costco that like to go bad in less than 4 days. i'm not completely satisfied, so why the hell can't i return them?

but op sucks.

It's not Costco's problem that you don't know how to keep your berries fresh! I know Costco doesn't sell 100% fresh fruits and veggies, but I tend to be very selective when I'm picking what bag of fruits and veggies I buy from Costco. If a bag of cucumbers I purchased from Costco goes bad after week, I don't return it for a new bag. People have no ethics and moral value!

90 days no questions, just take it back. Return policies are part of people buying from certain vendors.

What he said. If you are willing to truck it back to Costco and wait in the return line while ppl glare at you go ahead. They keep track of everything you've ever bought or returned.

My wife works in the RTV department at Costco. Some of the stuff she talks about destroying or selling to salvage companies for pennies on the dollar would make you cry.

I love my 60" LG Plasma from Costco! Anyways.. I don't see a problem with the return since you're within the return period. I don't believe you need to justify a return. Honestly, though they should charge restocking fees.

Sorry, but you all saying this is abuse are WRONG. Costco's return policy says:
We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund.

Period. If you arent happy, for any reason, you can return it.

Actually, they may very well be the case. Part of the operating cost is handling loss in revenues from questionable returns. This can and often translated into higher annual membership fees.

If the product has a problem then by all means return it. I think the negative comments came in an appropriate manner since you said, and only said, that you didn't like the picture. That is completely different that a product not working as advertised.

And, to answer your original question (re: returns) ...

My first flat panel TV was a Vizio 42" 720P LCD. About 10 months into owning it the video board went nuts and everything on the screen was an LSD trip. I took a picture and posted to a forum (not this one), and then sent an email to the manufacturer.

Costco suggest I do this first since it was under the original Vizio warranty, but they also said I wasn't required to. I got Vizio to replace the unit on their dime, including in-home installation. Then about a year later the replacement unit's HDMI inputs all failed.

Now I was outside the Vizio warranty and Costco directed me to return the defective unit to them. They tested the HDMI inputs and all were dead. I got a Costco money card for $13xx. I turned around and bought a Vizio 50" plasma for $950 and put the rest on a DSLR.

The new unit is working fine and since then I've bought a Panasonic plasma, too and they still work. Unfortunately, in between the first flat panel purchase and the rest the Costco return policy changed, and I do not doubt for one minute it was due to abuse.

My closest store went from having 4-6 returned units sitting on the floor for a loss, to maybe one per month. If its defective, return it and they will not care. BTW, no need for purchase receipt as Costco keeps track of all purchases, minus the serial numbers. This was how I was able to return the replacement 42" LCD with no problems.

Reminds me of the time I was leaving a Costco and saw an LCD in the returns area: no box, completely covered in dust. Maybe it was defective...

I'm against abuse of the policy, but the stores share some of the blame for setting up their return policies that way.

I don't think anyone said it's against policy.

The OP said he wanted something else, if that's the sole source of the dissatisfaction you can constantly use this policy to get a new tv every 3 months, but that's OK because it's within policy. Right?

Theoretically, yes. Part of their satisfaction guarantee is that...you know...you're satisfied.

I've seen people return rancid meat, milk, and along with other things, mattresses (stained and used).

Yes, its Costco's idea to have whatever policy they wish.
