34c reported by mobo and 41c by video card. The temperature reported by the card is not a good indication of ambiant air temps inside the case though as it is the temperature of the PCB itself.

Sending mine back tommorow.

What happens if Newegg doesn't have any replacements? Do they refund? Personally I'd rather just get another one, considering I'm paying to ship this one back.

Ah well, that sucks. If I get a refund I'll be waiting to upgrade my entire system before I upgrade again.

try going to evga directly

I would try this and if your feeling extra evil you could try pulling off the "limited edition" stickers and send it back as an ultra.

Edit: Nevermind the evilness, forgot about the S/N.

eVGA's website specifically says to go to your retailer first.

I will try Newegg tommorow and see if they have any replacements in the pike. If not I will try eVGA. If they want to send me a GT or Ultra as a replacement that will be fine with me.:D

Well, my 400w PSU only has 17amps on the 12V rail...so I thought I'd try this (lemme know what y'all think)

I thought I'd strap (tape, glue, weld...whatever will hold it :)) an old 250w PSU to my tower and run the power cables in through an empty slot on the back of the case, so my vid card would have it's own personal PSU. Since I've got one lying around, I thought that might cut it and save me some $$.

How many amps does this vid card need by itself??

My other option is to cancel my order and wait till later to upgrade my vid card (which I'd rather not do since I'm using a GF FX 5200...)

Any thoughts??

Antec True 480W, Enermax Noisetaker 450W or Thermaltake PurePower 480W?

Any thoughts on which PS is better? From what I've read they are all pretty good, but I'd like some user opinions if possible.

Im beginning to think my card is actually not one of the lucky ones. For some reason, I cant boost the memory clock past 950. And if I do, the graphics will tear really bad. I tried replacing my psu with an atec 430, but still same problem. I also stuck my video card in my brothers computer, and still the same thing happens. eVGA wont RMA my card since I placed a NV Silencer on it right? If anyone knows what can be wrong Id appreciate the help. Thanks!!

Oh heres what my computer consists of:

P4 3.0Gig Northwood / Abit Ai7 MoBo
1GB kingston Dual Channel Memory
Seagate Ultra SCSI Drive
Generic 480 PSU (Tried the antect PSU)

It was doing the same even with the stock cooler. Thats actually the reason why I bought the silencer, thinking it might fix the problem. Im gonna try email evga, who knows maybe theyll honor my warranty. Thanks.

I see no reason why you should'nt try an RMA on it. It was broke when you got it, even though you modded it. It would be wrong if you broke it.

It really seems that there are a very high number of defective cards. We're just a small number of people purchasing these cards and look how many of us have received bad ones.

Well Im hoping eVGA will honor my warranty. The stock speeds that the card came with didnt work, so maybe I can use that as a way for them to honor it. The second I purchased this card I had a gut feeling Id be the one with the bad one. Go figure

I sure hope not, I have'nt received mine yet. I'm worried about the fact that I have a 350watt PSU on top of everything else that could go wrong :(

Before I would say there are failures I would consider the screwy bio it has. It changed everything when I re-flashed my bios.

My fastwrites are enabled. I can only vouce for an Antec PS, I've used them for years with no problems. My eVGA card is working fine and has been right out of the box, I would venture to say many others are doing fine as well, they just don't post that fact. They are watching this thread carefully before venturing into the OC arena. I appreciate all the work that thugsrook and others are doing in order to find the optimum parameters that this card will perform at. Once things settle down to ONE particular bios file that works well, and for some period of time, I will flash mine. Anyone else doing the same thing ?

I wonder why this card being originally an Ultra slighlty prefers the GT bios over the Ultra... any thoughts?
