the GT bios has tighter memory timings.
the GT bios will always be faster then an Ultra bios ~ even on an ULTRA! :Q

Ah, good answer Thugs. I can't believe I'm such a nerd that I even know that there are memory timings on video cards too.

Isn't this cards RAM 10% faster than GTs also? That would mean that these should handle the tighter timings long term particularly well, even more so than GTs...

Stabilty at higher clocks. And higher clocks sell video cards

Modified Ultra bios with GT timmings would be the ticket because People want to have their cards ID'd as Ultra's :)

Hey Thugs, can you modify the LE-GT 1.4 bios to show "ULTRA"??? :D:p

I mean, we all just about running this bios at the ultra timings... It would be bonus to see it show as "ultra", like Killrose said... :)

WOW! I turn by back on this forum for the weekend and there's 8 more pages!

So for all of you people having funny problems with your cards, what resolution are you running at? After some serious searching of posts at evga's website last week I found out that their cards have some driver issue with the bottom DVI port when run at resolutions of 1600x1200 or greater. Apparently someone at eVGA has verified this and said that one DVI port is controled by the GPU itself while the second one is controled by an additional chip on the card. There is an as of yet unfixed driver issue with the bottom DVI port that has artifacts show up at 1600x1200 and above regardless of the GPU and mem speeds.

The simple fix is to use the middle DVI port instead of the bottom one or to use the analog adaptor on the bottom port. I verrified this with my card and got the same results: artifacts at 1600x1200 at all speeds with the bottom port in DVI mode, an no problems at all with the other port or the bottom port with the adaptor.

Before you send your card back, check if this is your problem and if it goes away with a different port.

Tomorrow I'll got to give THUGSROOK's bios updates a try and see what happens.

Hey thugs what do I use to mod a bios?.. Had the progam awile back but forget name..omni something?

Anyway you guys should'nt worry too much about temps. Mines under water and very good water showing 47C... riggght, my CPU is only 35ish and puts out twice the power (about 120W) over a quarter the die area... don't put much stock in any 6800series temps...

I was using the analog adapter, but the probems I was having appeared after a few hours of use. Definitely core/memory related issues.

Lol, I was thinking that too. It'd be like driving a Mustang GT but with the regular V6 emblem so no one knows it...

I'm actually thinking of using the softer Ultra memory timings because the little experience I had with trying to tighten my regular RAM timings, my PC wouldn't boot. I figure I'd rather take extra stability over 4% extra performance....to each his own.

Once more, what do y'all think??

I thought I'd strap (tape, glue, weld...whatever will hold it :)) an old 250w PSU to my tower and run the power cables in through an empty slot on the back of the case, so my vid card would have it's own personal PSU. Since I've got one lying around, I thought that might cut it and save me some $$.

How many amps does this vid card need by itself??

My other option is to cancel my order and wait till later to upgrade my vid card (which I'd rather not do since I'm using a GF FX 5200...)

Any thoughts??

This doesnt have anything to do with OCing this card, but I just got this card and Im frustrated.

I went home for the weekend and it had come, I couldnt wait to get it back to my
dorm so I popped it in my computer at home 2100+ a7n8x, 2 HDs, 1 cd, 400w allied psu 17amp 12v rail. Fresh install of XP too worked like a champ, 16 pipes 6 ps, used the stock bios and 61.77 ocd to 350, again worked like a champ, no artifacts was great. Mind you one rail for both connectors on the 6800

I bring it back to my dorm tonight to put it in my main machine 3500+ A8V dx rev2, 2 HDs, 1 DVDR, 80mm Tornado on fan controller for CPU, 450w Austin PSU 18amp 12v rail. I uninstalled the old drivers, booted safe mode, ran driver cleaner, rebooted installed 61.77's. On reboot right after windows load monitor goes to sleep. Ok so I uninstall drivers try the 66.81's same thing. Ok I figure maybe power consumption, I give it 2 seperate rails. Nope same thing unplug everything but HD and cpu fan, same thing.

Im at a loss right now, I had to throw my ti4200 back in to function. It worked fine over the weekend on a smaller machine and psu but now it wont function if it's drivers are installed.

Anyone else notice that somekind of thermal tape is used for attaching the the memory to the heatsink? Anyone switch over to some artic silver and get better results?

I would say check out the bios and make sure everything liike good. In the book that came with the card it sayd what they recomend the bios settings to be. Let us know though.

Dammit, i cant seem to flash my card. I managed to backup the rom with nvflash, but it wont install the new bios. I've tryed the -5 -6 commands and i still get the id mismatch. wfflash does nothing when i enter the commands. i've waited 90seconds and nothing happens. I've also turned off fastwrite(hoping, but nothing). anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same problem! however I was able to flash it to the ultra (rev. 4) but that is it? cannot flash to any other bios. I have tried wfflash and it locks up my computer, (all versions) nvflash is what I used to flash to the ultra, however it gives me a ID mismatch when trying to flash to anything else. I can use it to flash a modified bios for the ultra (omniextreme edit) without a problem. Frustrating isn't it? I not complaining it rocks with the ultra bios. Someone will figure it out! it does 72509 in aquamark!!!

I running a A64 (winchester core 90 nanometer) MSI neo 2 plat. pc 3700 in dual channel. raptor HD

How? And will it ID as Ultra with every other program?

edit: do you have to install the drivers first then flash BIOS, or vice versa? Or does it matter?

I get the same max OC of 460/1170 whether I use the ultra bios or thugs le-gt. Howver I get better performance at the same speed with the le-gt.

is it marginal, or worth it? if you've noticed i've been whining in here a lot about video bios flashing,i'd like to make it a one time deal and never do it again....

I went from a score of 5,200 in 3dmark 05 with the ultra bios to almost 5,600 with the le-gt bios.
