While you liberal nut cases turn off all your lights.....I plan to turn EVERY piece of electronic equipment/lights/whatever I can turn ON and blast it on webcam.......site will be up tonight. I went and rented two spot lights too.....if you are in Dallas/Addison....look north between 7:00pm and 10:00pm....

You do realize that if EVERYONE turns off their lights.....the electric companies lose money....then ask for a bailout...we provide it and then the government has control there too?

I'll make sure to leave my care idling, mow the lawn and turn all the lights on.

why is caring about the Earth a "liberal" idea..

just asking.

Do your research....find out who started this "earth hour rally". Once you have your answer....come find me.

so, its not the idea that matters but the person who thinks of it?

Some people are so blinded by their political/ethical/theological ideas, they will not accept an idea is good or worth doing, no matter how great the idea may be, if the person presenting it comes from a rival sect.

As for me I will most likely be watching Die Hard on Blu-ray at that time.

KT

If you are willing to turn your lights off because someone "asks" you to...how willing woudl you be once "they" tell you to do it?

Why don't you go to your nearest organic grocer.

Buy all their produce then toss it in the trash.

That'll show em

This is just an awareness thing, it's not really to save energy. Lights don't consume that much power compared to other stuff.

Really they should of just got the power companies together and have a 1 hour power outage across the world. Now THAT could make a small difference. :p

Of all the things to angrily oppose, it's saving energy you choose? I mean even if you don't believe air polution exists what harm can it possibly do you to let other people save energy?

I'm not a green activist and I'm not taking part in this but I don't hate poeple who are. Sure, there are nutters in the green movement, but there are nutters everywhere - the basic idea that we can't keep buring fossil fuels forever is correct. The fact that a handful of people use it to further an anti-science lets-all-live-in-grass-huts agenda makes no difference to the fact.

Anyway this is just a gesture for the media and they don't care if my computer is on or not.

It's a symbolic act that does nothing to address the problem. I guess it makes some people feel good, but so does masturbation.

yeah, that's pretty lame. maybe you should shove some sparklers and firecrackers into your hair and light them as you rev up your engine, chanting "USA! USA!" as you pump your fists into the air.

My movie won't be done by then ---- KKKHHHHAAAANNNN!

(And yes, those freaky ear bugs scared me as a child. Later, I actually had nightmares about the scorpion-brain parasites from TNG)

put your money where your mouth is.

1. don't ever replace your air filters on your air conditioning unit so it'll use more energy
2. don't ever use microwave anymore, use conventional oven for everything.
3. set your refrigerator temperature at 34 and your freezer to -5
4. when using said conventional oven to check your food, open oven instead of peeking thru the glass window.
5. making sure all the outlets are plugged in your house even if you're using the appliances
6. get rid of your CFL if you have any, replace with regular light. bury your CFL in your backyard and stick it to the environmentalist... that makes them mad.
7. remove all trees from around your house.

its very easy, just pick up any of those 'save the earth' propaganda and do the opposite.

I heard about this shit. I too turned on every light in my house and *GASP* mowed my lawn in pure daylight with a *GASP* gas lawnmower! I even *GASP* used coal to cook some of my food along with natural gas as well as electric power.

And you know what? I paid for that power so fuck you hippies.

Now, if someone wants to start beer hour... sign me up.
Yeah. I live a relatively simple life and consider myself to be somewhat green. What actually makes a difference is what you do during the other 8759 hours of the year. As others have pointed Earth Hour is more about awareness.

Gotta LOL at all the nutjobs saying they'd turn on all their stuff just to spite the environmentalists, though. You guys are loons.

I turned on every light and appliance in my apartment and left it on for the full hour just to stick in the face of these idiots.
