I love the game. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's the best football game to date. Sure, it could be better... Sure, it has a few glitches, but those are quite rare. Overall, it's an excellent game, imho.

I'm curious as to what you think sucks about it, after playing it?
The offensive line never blocks properly. The CPU o-line sticks to you like glue though, the animations are terrible, defenders still slide over to make unrealistic plays. Literally slide...they don't run there and they don't look when they make an interception on a receiver who was wide open. Plays you can't make on defense, the CPU always makes. The AI adjusts and ratings go out the window when you are ahead on points. Tackling is atrocious. The graphics are horrible for a ps4/xb1 game. After playing NBA 2k14, and FIFA, and the show I can't believe they let this engine slide.

EA Access restricts early 'Madden 15' gameplay to six hours - Engadget
Lol...probably because people can play for 5 days and be done with it forever and they are afraid sales will suffer.

The worst thing is though that there will be no demo at all otherwise. So if you don't have EA access, you can't even try it at all. So we are officially paying for demos now. This won't be the last time.

so paying to play the full game early = paying to play a demo?

okay...

Fifa is fantastic and Peggle is fun enough. Madden is...well. I'll just say it's got problems. I'd go so far as to say it sucks but I'm sure some people like it.

I haven't enjoyed a Madden game since 07 with the qb cone vision. I used to play in a fun custom pc league back then. It was soooo much fun. I wish we kept the league going. I started from being barely able to play the cpu in the lower difficulties to steam rolling the game in All Madden mode after playing in a league against real players.

Yeah when there is no demo available otherwise and they announced that there will not be. EA is paywalling it behind their subscription program.

So essentially being able to play the game before you buy it, whether the full game for a few hours or replaying last year's Superbowl game...is a demo of the game. I'll know within 20 minutes if I like it or not, that's not the issue I have. My issue is that anyone who doesn't subscribe to EA access, has no way to see the game for themselves at all until they buy it or rent it.

They don't say if it is 6 hours at a time, or just 6 hours in total. I would hope it was just six hours in one sitting. Which, would be perfectly fine as a timed demo. But, 6 hours over 5 days is hardly early access.
I assume it is like other games on timers. You get to download it and the timer starts when you load it up. Then after the time expires it locks you out. This is how their timed trials work on PC, but some of them are 48 hours.

ooooh snap my bad, i thought the "early access" meant you could buy the full game 5 days early. i didn't realize it meant you could play a demo 5 days before it is out then purchase the full game at launch time.

then yeah that is full on r-tarded and i agree with you.

I kind of understand their angle, madden is one of the games that gets picked apart by critics. Myself included.

The early access for this game is you download the entire thing, get to play it for 6 hours and then decide if you want to buy it to continue and the game will unlock for you on the 26th which is the launch date. So you don't get to continue playing past that first 6 hours. You have to wait for it to unlock on launch day. For fans of the game this is good for them, they will instantly know whether things they remember from the old one are fixed or changed in a positive way. So they will simply get a little bit of a head start on their season or whatever.

It is not known if other games will have a 6 hour limit or not. Maybe we will get more details about the program as time goes on. When they were advertising it to potential subscribers they were not very clear on the early access program. There was bound to be some confusion. I thought you got the whole thing for the entire 5 days and then when the game launched it would lock unless you buy it. The 6 hour limit makes more sense in a way, some games can be played and completed in less than a day and for people not into sports games, a few days would give them all they need to see.

For those of us who will be buying it, they should just let us pay for it on Thursday and have the entire game.
That would probably entice people to subscribe too. I think they have retailer agreements for street date and such though so they really cant offer the game early.

All of this is spot-on, and the issue I have with Madden 25 on my Bone.

My copy from eBay came Saturday (after saying it was supposed to come Thursday, then taking 41.5 hours from the time it left a town 90 minutes away to get here). I popped it in, and as soon as I started playing, I was like "this looks like ass." I mean, I've put in games a year newer and felt that visuals improved. I last played this franchise with Madden 12, and I didn't really feel like it was a significant improvement.

Meanwhile, I still suck at it, compared to my cousin (though I'm losing to him by 1-2 scores, rather than the usual 4). Even against the A.I., I'll do a run play, only to have my back stick to the engaged O- and D-linemen. Then my lineman lets go of the defender, and I get tackled.

The responsiveness of a controlled receiver or runner is inconsistent as well. I'll try to come back to the ball manually, and the guy won't really move much. The next time, I'll try to make a larger movement, and it's a MUCH-larger movement, and I completely miss going towards the target. It's really frustrating.

Then there's the open-field play, which sucks ASS. I like to try to do the one-on-one stuff against my cousin, but it's too hard to get your idiot to make the tackle, so I feel compelled to let the CPU do it. I similarly can't get the game to select the right defender on kick returns, so I just let the CPU do it.

A.I. is the biggest downfall of Madden. The physics can be REALLY sketchy, but that bothers me a lot less than just how bad the A.I. can be.

stop trying to play madden with your penis and you probably won't have these problems.

Well, I guess some people enjoy it. Maybe the issue with the player control you are experiencing is similar to what sometimes happens in Fifa 14. You select the player that you want to make the play but there is a pause, just enough of one to allow the play to be made by the opposing team. Be it intercept a pass, score on you, or receive a pass successfully that you should have had the opportunity to intercept. The player just stands there still for a moment when it should be giving you instant control over that player's actions. It happens just often enough to be annoying.

I believe you're experiencing (in Fifa) something that can be turned off. There is a setting to "Continue directional movement on switch" or something like that. So, it doesn't give you full control over a player when you switch, so you don't switch and accidentally run in the wrong direction. I have that turn off and my players are more responsive (and I run in the wrong direction all the time, but that is mostly because I RB and it goes to a defender I wasn't expecting). I've muddled passes (but, I also use no pass assist) and run the player away from it on accident. Also, Fifa 14 requires the player to actually be ready to perform the action, so shooting / passing right when you get the ball won't skip any animations getting into that position to shoot it (or turning, etc).

In Madden, I haven't noticed any response issues, as far that that. But, I mostly play as a single offensive player.

Or buy new game for $60. Play for 3 months. Sell for $50.

This is an EA money grab. Nothing more.

The day that all companies move to this model is the day that Video Game Crash 2 starts.

Even better I can play it for 6 hours, get maybe something out of it and not buy it. I'll just keep playing FIFA and wait for the next trial to come along.

You are also way late, I and others talked about the potential for other publishers to want subscription fees and everything being segmented and paywalled behind a subscription. I am giving this a shot, FIFA 14 is worth $30 to me.

LOL, no. Never again will I pay $60 for a game. Besides, trade-in values usually top out at $44, with a membership at Best Buy or GameStop, and you won't get $50 from a stranger on the Internet 3 months later (maybe $40).

Instead, I'll get Madden 15 for about $28 out of pocket, play it for a while, then trade it in for $25-30.

Even with Watch Dogs, I paid $52 (post-tax), had it for about 2 weeks, beat the game and got all but 1 Achievement, and only got $44 back.

217 posts before someone brought up the video game crash? That has got to be a new record for an EA thread!

We know, everything everyone does shows the sky is falling. Gaming is dead and crashing. PC gaming has already ceased to exist, in fact, memory of it is being erased from people as we speak (avoid dentists and cosmetic surgeons!).

Wow, you guys make it sound like it's completely broken. So much so, that it would be impossible to enjoy.

Except that it's not, and millions of gamers enjoy it thoroughly.

I even said I am sure some people enjoy it. I just pointed out the flaws I see that make it something I do not want to play.

The video game industry has turned to dog shit.
OK...so why don't you quit gaming and you can stop posting while you are at it. I have no lack of fantastic games to play in recent years and more to come. There are a lot of games in the next few months even that I am very much looking forward to.
