EA announces a subscription service for Xbox One

Yeah, I noticed that too. I like that the subscriptions are consolidated, and I don't really see any downside to that.

Two days later, I find myself playing quite a bit of FIFA 14... A game that I would never purchase, but I'm having fun playing it. Hopefully more titles will show up in the "Vault" soon.

My guess is that the UFC title will be the next. Maybe Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare.

I'm currently downloading Madden and Peggle. Can't belive I'm actually installing peggle but anyway, I'm not really buying it. I already had Fifa installed from the disk and I own BF4 on PC.

Anyone know if you can link the "EA Access" origin to your actual Origin account? I just checked it out on the Bone and it had some randomly generated account name. Not that I have an Origin account, but it always annoyed me how EA had a propensity to create these unrelated accounts since 07ish when they started doing online stuff. Its always randomly generated crap that's hard to relink under certain circumstances.

My origin ID was linked to EA access as soon as I subscribed. Including my profile picture.

Go on your PC and link Xbox Live to Origin. http://help.ea.com/en/article/linking-your-gamertag-psn-id-or-ea-classic-screen-name/

I'm still waffling about this. I don't have any friends on the One to play BF4 with, so it doesn't really interest me. I'm not big on soccer, so I don't really need FIFA. I'm getting Madden 25 in the mail tomorrow, then I have until 8/23 to trade it in towards Madden 15 which will make that game obsolete. Peggle's an OK-looking Arcade/indie title, but nothing amazing.

I feel like more will be added to make me want this eventually, but IDK what I'd do with it right now. I might sign up on 8/21, when the early access to Madden 15 starts, then I'll take my physical copy of Madden 25 to Best Buy, IDK.

Ugh, I have to make an Origin account as well, need to take care of that, now that there's finally a reason.

IMO it's worth it for Fifa alone. That's just me. I traded in Fifa and got $30 (I paid $45 for it). EA Access gave it back to me plus I got Madden as well which I wouldn't buy on its own. I really subscribed to check out NHL 15 early. I don't know if I will buy it, this is a way to try it out before release.

How long can you play the games? I don't think you need an origin account, it should link your Xbox live account to origin, resulting in their own weird usernames.

The games you get from the vault are like games you get with PSN+. As long as you are a member you can continue playing. They will remove or add new games to the vault at will but anything you download, you have until you delete it. What you actually do is gain access to the titles in the XBL Games Store. EA Access Hub links to the games in the XBL store. You don't need Origin, but you can link XBL to Origin on your PC and that will let you use your origin name etc for EA Access.

I'm really not crazy about FIFA, but I'd try it if I get Access. However, something I'm concerned with is that Best Buy (or someone else) will have a deal like Best Buy is offering with Madden, where I could go buy a $15 copy of the 2013-2014 game, then trade it in for $35 towards the new one.

My copy of Madden 25 shows up tomorrow, gotta get The Bone from my dad's so I can play it. Then I'll decide if I want to play it until next Saturday (the last day of the Best buy deal), or if I want sign up for Access and trade it in on the 21st, when I would get early access to Madden 15.

I imagine I'll end up signing up for it, just going to wait a bit.

You have to get an Origin account to play things online anyway, might as well do it beforehand.

I presume your trade-in deal is for a physical copy. If so, you won't be able to acquire it before the 26th... Nobody will have it on the shelf before the official release date.

Of course it is. However, EA Access gives you 5 days' early access to games. So, I could play Madden 25 for the next week, trade it in on the 21st, and sign up for EA Access, start playing Madden 15 then pick it up at Best Buy on the 26th.

Oh, I see.

I own a PS4 and sadly am sorta jealous. But oh well, I don't know really because a sub based service would generally devalue the games to me, and as such I wouldn't have spent money on Battlefield Premium (which I thought was worth getting)

So, do you get early access to games, ie next madden, with out any plan to purchase it at all? Sort of an early demo to the game?

Yes and if you decide to buy the game, your saved progress will carry over. If you buy the game digitally it will unlock for you since you already installed it.

This thing is really tempting. Is the UFC game free with this?

No. You do get 10% off if you buy it from EA Access.

The free games currently are Madden 25, Fifa 14, Battlefield 4, and Peggle 2. You will get a 5 day trial when new EA games come out. You get to download the full game 5 days before the official release date and if you buy it, it will unlock and you don't need to install it again. Your save games will transfer to the retail game if you decide to buy it.

Already have BF4, but I wouldn't mind spending 30 bucks for the other 3.

Fifa is fantastic and Peggle is fun enough. Madden is...well. I'll just say it's got problems. I'd go so far as to say it sucks but I'm sure some people like it.

I love the game. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's the best football game to date. Sure, it could be better... Sure, it has a few glitches, but those are quite rare. Overall, it's an excellent game, imho.

I'm curious as to what you think sucks about it, after playing it?
