Jesus. Didn't mean to piss in your cereal or anything, relax. Most people that are hardcore about getting the new Madden game when it is released probably bought the last Madden game when it was new and didn't wait six months before it was outdated.
I see this as you've spent $15 for a game to trade in at $35. So you by the game at $25. So now you're actually out $40 out of pocket. You get a $10 gift card you can only use to buy more crap from BB. And you've spent some amount of money on the Best Buy GCU. $100?
Since you're still missing the point: I asked him if he had
Madden 25 already, and your response is "it costs $60 to buy," despite the fact that finding it for under $30 has been easy for a while now. Microsoft has personally sold the game for $20 through their eBay store for some time. Your snarky response to my question to another person was completely dumb and trying to make some nonsensical point. That's why you got the response you did.
As for the rest, you're apparently still not getting THAT, so I'll try explaining again:
For starters, I bought the GCU membership for $60, and not so I could get
Madden (which I never intended to get until the trade-in deal was announced). Since then, I've already saved probably close to $60, so I've made my money back on that in about 2 months. I have it for another 22 months, during which all of the money saved is basically profit from the service. So, the cost of that membership is irrelevant to the matter.
Madden 15 is $60. I spent $15. I'll then get it for $25 as a result. The GCU membership gives me another $12 off. That means I get it for $13. So, right there, I'm getting a $60 on release day for $28, plus tax (which should be about $4). I'm getting more than 50% back immediately, and if I get bored in 6 months, I'll probably get close to that (if not more) in trade-in value. Or, heck, maybe this trade offer will happen again next year, and I'll trade in that $28 release-day game for $35 again.
Now, the last piece of ignorance, the "$10 gift card you can only use to buy more crap from BB." Like I said, my GCU membership runs until June of 2016. No other location will be offering the other games I intend to buy for less than the $48 they'll sell me them for on release day, because I get 20% off new games for the duration of the GCU membership. So, when I inevitably buy
Halo: The Master Chief Collection in November, I'll get an extra $10 off of it because I purchased
Madden 15 at Best Buy in August. That means that on launch day, I'll get THAT game for $22 off (GCU+rewards), meaning I'll get a second brand new game for $38, plus tax.
If you can't figure out what I mean here, I can't help you. It's a significant savings to go through Best Buy for buying games for the next 2 years for me. So, when you say "buy more crap from Best Buy," all I hear is "more cheap games I was going to buy anyway."
Lastly, I don't really eat cereal.
