CPU:e2180(m0)
FSB and Multi: 10x260
Vcore:1.325 (could be lower; was testing vdroop; vdroop is nearly non-existant on this MSI P35 Neo2-FR!)
Mobo: MSI P35 Neo2-FR
RAM: 2GB OCZ Reaper @ 2.1V 866MHz (1:1.66 I think...) 4-4-4-12
Cooling: AC Freezer 7 Pro
I'm going to keep going higher; temps are only 34C-54C. I've got a little more headroom. I'll probably quit at 3GHz.

Built my first own build last night,

abit ip35-e
e2180
antec p182

pepared the hsf and cpu with articlean 1 and 2. then used AS 5

this is the hsf http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...dpNo=2943299&CatId=493

I have it at 270mhz x 10 for 2.7 ghz @ the lowest vcore
fsb:ram at 1:1
dram timings at 5, 5, 5, 15, and auto the rest.
disabled C1E

Ive been running prime 95 for 6 hours with no errors.
Idle temps by coretemp: 21 C for both
Load temps by coretemp: 50 C for both

Are those OK temperatures? Should I change any more settings in the bios? voltages?

Thanks. And thank you to graysky, without that guide oh how to oc, I never would have been able to do this!

You could... I dunno anyone who did because they reach the FSB limit before the heat limit usually. But go ahead.

Your temps are fine. Do you want to go higher? You may need to bump vcore if you do.

Hey guys need a little advice on overclocking.

Here is my setup:

E2180 w/ stock cooler
Gigabyte P35-DS3L
G.Skill DDR2 PC6400 2gbx1

I am looking to get 3ghz stable. What multiplier and fsb should I shoot for 300x10 or ??? How much voltage should I start out with...is it ok to just set it at 1.4v since that seems like everyone is using between 1.375-1.425?

Also what program should I run to monitor temps and stress test? thanks

*The overvolt on the Southbridge is the only thing that stops a video error I get when doing a soft boot. If I switch the computer completely off and then back on it works perfectly. However, if I do a controled restart from Windows or any other program the computer boots back up with no video.

Hey serpant,
I managed to OC 2140 to 3.6 Ghz with 1.5 Vcore! I think i have a golden chip. ABIT IP35-E is a dream motherboard forall! Best bang for buck! Like u said: KING OF VALUE AND PERFORMANCE! I wanted to ask you something though, I've heard that the DUAL BOOT is dangerous for the hdd, How far is this true? Your inputs will help a great deal!

My new system (finished a month ago, forgot to post it ;))

CPU: E2180 (M0)
FSB and Multi: 325x10
Vcore: 1.485
Mobo: IP35-E
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB (4 x 1) DDR2 @ 960mhz, vdimm @ 2.0, 5-5-5-15 2T 2:3 divider
Cooling: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, Zalman ZM-STG1 thermal grease
Temps: 25c idle/58c load

I think I must have ended up with a gimped E2180; I cannot get it to go higher than 3.2ghz and remain stable without bumping vcore over 1.5v and I said "no thanks". 100mhz bump isn't worth it to go above 1.5v on the vcore for me.

First post, first build and first oc:

CPU: E2160 @ 2.4GHz, M0 stepping
FSB / Multi: 9x266
Vcore: 1.275V (stock in BIOS, cpu-z reported 1.232V)
Mobo: Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Ram: 2x2GB Wintec AMPX CL5 DDR2 800 @ 533MHz, 1:1, 5-4-4-11
Cooling: stock HSF

16 hours Orthos stable, 36-37C idle, 58-59C load, 24.5C ambient. Kinda lame oc but I didn't want to push it without better cooling. Will try higher FSBs for fun but I'll probably go back down to 2.40GHz (or any FSB I find where load temp is still under 60C). Getting an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro but will be replacing the E2160 with a Q6600 at the same time. Will use the E2160 for an HTPC build later on.

thanx to you guys alot. I have a 2140 and got it to go to 1066 front buss. My lousy board doesnt overclock 1 point, lol. After i modded then i can go to step 2, 280 fbs. I havent tried the volt stuff yet. I might get energetic and try the volt mod and then go for broke, hehe. Right now im happy.

My board is a foxconn 45cm-s.

im up to 2400 and no fails yet. Im gonna go a little crazy and see what happens

hahaha, same here, quad folding is really giving the poor old e2140 a hiding.

Great thread.

I just want to make sure I'm on the right track.

I just installed a new ABIT IP35-E along with 2GB G-skill DDR400, and E2160.

All I have done so far is:

1. Set C1E to "disabled"
2. Set CPU ratio to 333x9 (3Ghz)
3. Set CPU Voltage to 1.425
4. Set Memory divider to 1:1.25 (DDR 800)
5. Set Memory Voltage to 2.0v

I'm now running Prime 95 and after about 10 minutes the core temp is hovering between 68 and 72C.

My plan right now is to see if it's stable and continually lower the CPU voltage until it's unstable and then raise it back up a little and leave if there.

Am I on the right track?

Are there ANY steps I have missed? I don't want to ruin all my brand new components.
